Mumbai India’s were invited to bat first by Rajasthan Royals today in the 45th match of DLF Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians today opened the innings with Jayasurya and Sachin, but Jayasurya was out for just 1 and team score read at 12/1 in 1.3 overs. A brilliant bowling spell by Shane Watson in which he struck thrice in his first two overs broke the backbone of Mumbai Indians innings.But Sachin on the other hand again anchored the Mumbai Indians innings with a superb 89 not out off 59 balls. This is the highest individual score of Sachin in IPL. It was just Sachin who helped the team to post a decent total of 174/5 in 20 overs. He did get some support from Duminy and Pollard but all credit goes to the little master for his excellent innings which took Mumbai Indians to a fighting total.

Rajasthan Royals needed 175 to win but could not get the desired start. They lost three quick wickets and were 11/3 in 2.4 overs. Mumbai Indians bowlers gave a superb start and never allowed Royals to score runs freely. At the end of powerplay (6 overs), Rajasthan Royals were 34/3. Rajasthan Royals lost wickets at regular interval, thanks to superb bowling and fielding by Mumbai Indians. Rajasthan Royals lost three wickets due to run outs and were 85/6 in 13.5 overs. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and decided to bat first today at Jaipur against Rajasthan Royals. They got a fast start but lost Bisla when the score was 29. Sangakkara also could not do much and was out for just 9. Kings XI Punjab were 52/2 in 6.1 overs. Jayawardene and Yuvraj then took the charge and took the score past 100. Yuvraj Singh was severly harsh on Shane Warne and never allowed him to get his rhythm. Jayawardene and Yuvraj were cruising on well and it looked Kings XI Punjab will set a huge total. But then came a twin blow to Kings XI Punjab as Aditya Dole in the 12th over struck twice to get rid of Jayawardene and Yuvraj. This became the turning point of match as Kings XI Punjab who were well placed at 109/4 in 12 overs just could not get runs. After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals decided to bat first. But this decision could not bear fruits as they lost 2 quick wickets and were 17/2 in 2.3 overs.Watson and Faiz then steadied the innings and got to a partnership of 77 runs. Watson scored a fifty and was the highest scorer for Rajasthan Royals. After Faiz got out, the wickets felt one after the other and no one could provide any support to Watson. It was Watson fifty which eventually helped Rajasthan Royals to post a total of 159/10 in 19.5 overs.

Chasing 160 to win, Laxman and Gilchrist opened the innings for Deccan Chargers. Laxman failed to provide the required start and was out for 6runs. Gilchrist on the other hand scored a quick fire 34 off just 17 balls and was then out leaving Deccan’s 47/2 in 4.5 overs. Symonds, Anirudh Singh and Dwayne Smith also then got out cheaply and the match was poised evenly and any team could. Deccan Chargers needed 42 runs off 30 balls and Royals needed 5 wickets. Warne’s bowled the 18th over and got two wickets, Deccan Chargers were 139/7 in 17.4 overs.Rohit Sharma was firm on one end and scored 73 runs off just 44 balls but his innings could not help them win the match as they lost three wickets in last over and thus lost the match by 2 runs.Deccan choked again in the final overs and Royals were finally able to clinch it by a narrow margin.
