Today in the second match of the day and the last match of the league stage, Mumbai Indians will take on Rajasthan Royals at 8 pm Indian Standard Time.

This is a do or die match for both teams. Rajasthan Royals need to win this match to occupy the fourth spot in the league stage and thus move to the playoffs where as Mumbai need to win comprehensively so that their net run rate improves and they move ahead of Royals and thus play in the next stage. In case of a draw or washout, Rajasthan Royals will move to the playoffs.

Toss – Delhi Daredevils elected to field
Result – Mumbai Indians won by 15 runs
Man of the match – Michael Hussey

In a superb encounter, which saw the fortune change from one team to another, Mumbai Indians kept their nerves and registered their sixth victory to keep their hopes alive for playoffs. Now their fate depends on the next match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. If Rajasthan Royals defeat KXIP, they will move to playoffs but if Royals are defeated, Mumbai still might make it.

Chasing 174 to win, Delhi openers added 43 runs in 5.2 overs after which Murli Vijay got out. Captain Pieterson got a start and scored 44 before getting out. Karthik failed today and was out for only 7. Delhi were struggling at 61/3 in 9.4 overs and needed some one to take chances to register a win today. Manoj Tiwary and Jean-Paul Duminy played superb cricket and gave scare to Mumbai. The duo added 85 runs in 8.5 overs. It was the fall of Tiwary which brought Mumbai back and they won the match by 15 runs as Delhi were restricted to 158/4 in 20 overs.

Earlier Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field. The match was delayed by 5 minutes as Mumbai wanted to replace injured Praveen Kumar with Ojha who they have not named in their reserve four. After discussions, Delhi allowed Mumbai to do that and the match started. Mumbai openers Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey added 87 runs in 8 overs after which Simmons got out.( 35 off 25 balls). Hussey and captain Rohit Sharma then combined well for Mumbai and took the score to 120 in 12 overs. Hussey was the next to fall but he had scored 56 off 33 balls and given a solid platform to Mumbai to built on. All the other batsmen came and contributed with little cameos but evetually it was a total batting collapse of Mumbai as fro 120/2 in 12 overs they were all out for 173 in 19.3 overs.

Lendl Simmons sensational 100 off 61 balls helped Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab today by 7 wickets.

Chasing 157 to win, Mumbai Indians openers Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey added 68 runs in 7 overs for the first wicket stand. Lendl Simmons were at his devastating best today as he scored a brilliant 67 ball 100 and reminaed unbeaten till the end. He single handily took the match away from KXIP and helped Mumbai register a comprehensive win by 7 wickets

Earlier Mumnbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. KXIP lost Virender Sehwag in the third over when the team score was just 23 but Manan Vohra and Shaun Marsh then helped KXIP recover from Sehwag’s wicket. Shaun Marsh scored 30 off 17 balls before falling for Santokie. This wicket changed the whole game as Mumbai capitalized on this fall and got quick wickets of Manan Vohra and Glenn Maxwell. KXIP were reduced to 93/4 in 11 overs. Captain George Bailey then bailed them out and scored a quick fire 39 and helped KXIP post a total of 156/8 in 20 overs.
