Deccan Chargers were invited to bat first by Kings XI captain Yuvraj Singh. Gilchrist and Gibbs gave them a quick start and scored 31 runs for opening wicket partnership in just 3.4 overs. Gilchrist was the first to get out and soon Gibbs to followed.Suman and Sharma then came to bat but Sharma got out after scoring just 9 runs. The whole stake of the team was now on Symond and he didnt let it down. Symonds hammered bowlers to all corners and scored 60 runs of just 36 balls (4*2,6*4). It was due to his superb batting that Deccan Chargers were able to post a good total of 168/5 in 20 overs.

Kings XI Punjab started of well in the run chase and scored 41 runs for first wicket partnership . Sohal was the first to get out and very soon Katich also got out leaving Kings XI Punjab 42/2 in the 5th over. Sangakkara and Yuvraj then played some good shots and it looked Kings XI Punjab are in command. But both batsmen fell in one over of Shoaib leaving Kings XI Punjab 86/4 in 10 overs. The match was wide open and it could have gone in favor of any side. But Jayawardene changed the game to Kings XI Punjab’s favor by scoring 43 runs of 28 balls (4*1, 6*3). Suman and Gilchrist then played some good shots and helped Deccan Chargers to recover from early jolt. But in the 6th over Suman also got out after scoring 20 runs in 13 balls. Gilly and Sharma then took the score past 50. Gilchrist got out after scoring 25 in 29 balls ( 4*2, 6*1). Chasing 146 for victory, Mumbai Indians lost Jayasurya and Sachin on consecutive balls and were reduced to7/2 in 2nd over. It was the excellent start for bowlers of Deccan Chargers but they could not capitalize on it as Shah and Duminy came to the rescue. Shah got out after scoring 29 runs in 19 balls ( 4*3, 6*1). Duminy scored his half century and it looked that Mumbai Indians are back in the game but a sudden fall of wickets helped won Deccan Chargers wint he match by 19 runs.

Dhoni was at his best today and completed his half century and remained unbeaten till end. Deccan Chargers got the worst possible start they could have imagined in the wildest dreams. They lost Gilchrist the very first ball and in the second over they lost Gibbs.Laxman also got out in the third over. These three batsmen failed to even open the account and got ducks. Deccan Chargers were reeling at 1/3 in 2.2 overs. It looked impossible for them to win the match but Smith showed some hope by playing a cameo of 49 runs in just 23 balls. Rajasthan Royals got the worst start any team could get in a match and lost 3 wickets when the team score was just 3. So from 3/3 it looked Rajasthan Royals would loose this match but a sensational performance by Shilpa Shetty’s team proved once again that cricket results can not be anticipated. After the top order failure, it was the middle order which came to the team’s rescue and each batsmen played an important role in this victory. Once again when the run rate was increasing, Yusuf Pathan came to the center and played a cameo. His batting along with good performances from Shane Warne, Carseldine and Raut helped them defeat Deccan Chargers. Also some sloppy fielding by Deccan Chargers helped them win this match in the last over.
