Sachin’s Mumbai Indians opened the bowling with Mclaren due to Zaheer’s absence. On the other hand, harbhajan started the bowling and this proved beneficial for Mumbai Indians as he got the priced wicket of Murli Vijay in the 4th over. Chennai Super Kings batsmen played really well today and all of them contributed. But in the end overs, when hitting was required, Pollard bowled a wonderful spell and gave double jolt to CSK. However Chennai Super Kings were still able to post a total of 165/4 in 20 overs though at one stage it looked that they could score in excess of 180 as they had wickets in hand.

The chase of 166 began on a high note as Shikhar Dhawan and Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings and scored runs with ease. They scored 46 for the first wicket before Dhawan felt for 16. Sachin and Saurav Tiwary then took the score past 50. Sachin was retired as he was not feeling well. This changed the whole dynamics of the game as the entire middle order of Mumbai Indians collapsed when Sachin got retired ill. From 46/1 they were 89/7 in 14.2 overs and it looked they will be bundled out for less than 100. But then Sachin came back to salvage the pride of Mumbai Indians. Match 37 Mumbai Indians Take On Chennai Super Kings

Match Details
Match: 37 T20, IPL3
Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai
Date: April 6, 2010
Time: 8:00 pm

The table toppers, Mumbai Indians will take on rusty Chennai Super Kings in the 37th match of DLF Indian Premier League 2010 today at Chepauk. Mumbai Indians who have already booked a place in semi’s have played superb cricket so far. Sachin Tendulkar has led from the front and thus Mumbai have won 7 out of the 8 matches played so far. On the other hand, Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings have won just 4 out of 9 matches and would thus be looking forward to this match to get the momentum. CSK needs to win this match and get back to winning track and thus make sure the road to semi’s is some what easy for them. But with the kind of form Mumbai Indians are in, CSK might need to show the best of their ability.

Match 32 Vijay’s Ton Helped CSK Defeat RR By 23 Runs

Match: 32nd T20
Venue: Chennai
Date: April 3, 2010
Toss: Chennai Super Kings elected to bat
Result: Chennai Super Kings won by 23 runs

Chennai Super Kings won the toss today and elected to bat first. They got to a flying start with Hayden and Murli Vijay taking the team score to 62 before Hayden got out. But M Vijay was at his playing best today. He hammered every bowler off the park and got on to score 127 runs off just 56 balls. Vijay along with Albie Morkel propelled the Chennai Super Kings innings with a partnership off 152. They took the team past 200 run mark and helped CSK post a huge total of 246/5 in allotted 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals had to chase a huge total of 247 to win and they got to the start which was needed for such a huge run chase. Lumb and Ojha scored 69 runs in 7.2 overs before Lumb got out. Soon the star for Rajasthan Royals Yusuf Pathan, also got out but Ojha and Watson played superbly and kept the run chase alive. Both completed the half centuries and took the team score past 150. Ojha and Watson were hitting the ball out of park, particularly Watson who had a strike rate in access of 240 and it looked that 247 would be easily chased if they got going. But then CSK got a major relief with the wicket of Watson. After 16 overs they were 183/3 still requiring another 64 off just 24 balls. With the fall of Watson, Rajasthan Royals were eventually out of the race though Ojha tried his level best and scored a brilliant 94 not out but the required run rate was sky high and thus Rajasthan Royals could score 223 runs in 20 overs and thus lost the match by 23 runs.

Overall an excellent game of cricket with both sides playing superbly but CSK just were one step ahead.

Match 28 Chennai Super Kings Beat Bangalore Royal Challengers By 5 Wickets

Match: 28th T20, IPL3
Venue: Chennai
Date: March 31, 2010
Toss: Royal Challengers elected to bat
Result: Chennai Super Kings won by 5 wickets

After wining the toss, Royal Challengers decided to bat first. Manish Pandey and J Kallis opened the innings for them but Pandey got out when the team score was just 12. After that Uthapa and Kallis steadied the innings and took the score past 50. Royal Challengers were placed at 54/2 in 6.3 overs. Royal Challengers batsmen played with caution and at one stage they had crossed the 100 run mark with the loss of just 2 wickets. At this stage it looked that now they will fire all cylinders and will try to pose a huge total. But excellent bowling by Chennai Super Kings bowlers played spoilsport as Royal Challengers could not score freely at will. Kevin Pieterson and C White did get some hits in the final overs and thus could manage to take the team score to 161/4 in 20overs.

Chennai Super Kings openers Murli Vijay and Hayden gave them a superb start and scored 61 runs in just 6.5 overs. Even after Hayden got out, Murli Vijay along with Raina kept the required rate under check. Murli Vijay played a superb knock of 78 in just 39 balls and took the team past 100 run mark. His innings laid a platform for the middle order to taste victory. Chennai Super Kings were well placed at 118/2 in 14 overs and needed 44 runs in 6 overs with 8 wickets in hand. But soon they lost 2 quick wickets and at the end of 18 overs they were 146/4. Chennai Super Kings needed 16 to win in 12 balls and it could have been anyone’s game. But Raina played sensibly and took the team to victory in the last over. Finally Chennai Super Kings were able to win the match by 5 wickets and thus move up some position in the points tables
