Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat today against Mumbai Indians. Chennai Super Kings opened the innings with Murli Vijay and Hayden, both of which were the in form batsmen for CSK. Sachin’s Mumbai Indians opened the bowling with Mclaren due to Zaheer’s absence. On the other hand, harbhajan started the bowling and this proved beneficial for Mumbai Indians as he got the priced wicket of Murli Vijay in the 4th over. Chennai Super Kings batsmen played really well today and all of them contributed. But in the end overs, when hitting was required, Pollard bowled a wonderful spell and gave double jolt to CSK. However Chennai Super Kings were still able to post a total of 165/4 in 20 overs though at one stage it looked that they could score in excess of 180 as they had wickets in hand.

The chase of 166 began on a high note as Shikhar Dhawan and Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings and scored runs with ease. They scored 46 for the first wicket before Dhawan felt for 16. Sachin and Saurav Tiwary then took the score past 50. Sachin was retired as he was not feeling well. This changed the whole dynamics of the game as the entire middle order of Mumbai Indians collapsed when Sachin got retired ill. From 46/1 they were 89/7 in 14.2 overs and it looked they will be bundled out for less than 100. But then Sachin came back to salvage the pride of Mumbai Indians. He and Harbhajan Singh took the team score past 100. Mumbai Indians were 103/7 in 16 overs and required 63 off last 4 overs. Sachin got out for 45 and the game was almost all over for Mumbai Indians though Harbhajan Singh tried his level best. Chennai Super Kings finally were able to stop the winning streak of Mumbai Indians and won the match by 24 runs.
