Deccan Chargers were in a must win situation today and therefore after winning the toss they decided to bat first. They got rid off Shaun Marsh in the very first over and it looked this time Kings XI will again crumb under pressure. But then the Sri Lankan duo of K Sangakkara and M Jayawardene got into a superb partnership of 86, K Sangakkara scored a brilliant 52 and got out. But M Jayawardene on the other hand then took the charge and scored runs with ease. He was playing patiently intially but then stepped the peddle and got on to score 93*off just 62 balls. It was his superb batting today that Kings XI could post a total of 174/3 in 20 overs.
Chasing a total of 175, Deccan’s lost the captain, Gilly when the team score was just 13. Deccan’s had to win today’s match to stay alive for semi finals. Monish Mishra and T Suman then took the score past 50 but when the score was 54, Monish Mishra got out. Now it was on T Suman and Rohit Sharma to steady the innings and they both played superbly to help Deccan’s past 100 run mark. Suman got out after scoring 43 when Deccan Chargers were 120/3 in 13.1 overs. They needed 55 runs off 41 balls and had 7 wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma once again played superbly to score 68runs off just 38 balls. The match was a real thriller and in the end it was Rohit Sharma’s innings which helped Deccan to win today’s match by 5 wickets and keep the semi finals hope alive.
