Today in the 40th match of IPL 2013, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field first. Abhinav Mukund and Chris Gayle scored 44 in just 4 overs before Gayle got out after scoring 34 in 16 balls. Abhinav Mukund was the next to fall as he was bowled by Trivedi for 19. RCB were well placed at 66/2 in 8 overs. Captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers then scored 33 in 25 balls before AB de Villiers got out. Moises Henriques’s 22 off 19 balls an Vinay Kumar’s 22 off 6 balls helped RCB post a decent total of 171/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 172 to win, Rajasthan Royals lost AJinkya Rahane in the third over when the team score was just 21. Rahul Dravid and Sanju Samson then took the score to 48 before Rahul Darvid was bowled by Henriques. Sanju and Shane Watson then played superbly, Sanju Samson scored 63 off 41 balls and along with Shane Watson took the score to 116. Brad Hodge and Shane Watson took charge and moved towards the victory target. Needing 30 to win from last 3 overs, the game was wide open. 17 runs came off the 18th over as Brad Hodge hit two sixes, Rajasthan Royals needed 13 runs in 2 overs to win the match. RP Singh striked back and took the wicket of Shane Watson who scored 41 off 31 balls (3×4,1×6). The match was far from over as in the final over, Rajasthan needed 6 to win but Kumar got the wicket of dangerous Brad Hodge (32 off 18 balls) and Owais Shah was run out the very next ball to keep the RCB hopes alive. But Stuart Binny hit a four on the second last ball to take Rajasthan to a 4 wicket win.

Rajasthan who are coming into this match with a superb win against Sunrisers in their last match would be hoping to continue the winning momentum where as Royal Challangers who suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians would be looking for a win to boost the morale of the team.

Delhi Daredevils Beat Pune Warriors by 15 Runs.

Result – Delhi Daredevils won by 15 runs

Today in the 39th match of IPL 2013, Pune Warriors won the toss and elected to field first. Delhi Daredevils openers Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag added 20 runs in 4.1 overs for the first wicket stand. Mahela Jayawardene got out after scoring just 12 off 17 balls. Virender Sehwag and Unmukt Chand then took the team score past 50. Virender Sehwag was the next to fall as he scored 28 of 26 balls. Within the same over, Unmukt Chand also got out leaving Delhi at 68/3 in 10.2 overs. Then came David Warner who from the very first ball went all guns blazing. He scored brilliant 51 off 25 balls which included 4 fours and 4 sixes. It was his cameo which helped Delhi post a decent total of 164/5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 165 to win, Pune opened with Robin Uthappa and man in form Aaron Finch. The duo played well and added 76 runs for the first wicket partnership. In the 11th over, they both fell to Pathan after scoring 37 each. But they had laid a solid platform for the coming batsmen. Yuvraj Singh and Luke Wrigh then steadily took the team score past 100. The required rate was increasing rapidly but some good bowling by Delhi never allowed Pune easy runs. Twin blow in the 18th over sealed the fate of the match in Delhi’s favor as they won it by 15 runs.

Chennai Super Kings Hold Nerve to Clinch A Thriller By 14 Runs Against Kolkata Knight Riders

Today in the 38th match of IPL 2013, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and invited Chennai to bat first. Chennai opened with Wriddhiman Saha and Michael Hussey and the duo gave them a perfect start as they added 103 in 10 overs for the first wicket partnership. Saha got out after scoring 39 off 23 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. But Michael Hussey continued the onslaught and was joined by Suresh Raina who smashed 44 in 25 balls (4×4,1×6). Michael Hussey scored 95 in just 59 balls which included 11 fours and 2 sixes and thus helped CSK post a good total of 200/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 201 to win, Manvinder Bisla and Gautam Gambhir opened the innings for Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir fell after scoring just 14 but Bisla continued from where he left in the last match. KKR were hoping a good innings from Brendon McCullum but he failed as he got out after scoring just 6. J Kallis got a start and scored 19 before getting out leaving KKR at 99/3 in 12.2 overs. KKR needed another 102 off 7.4 overs and all hopes were on the duo of Bisla and Eoin Morgan. The duo played some excellent shots to take their team towards the winning target. 22 runs came of the 18th over and the game was wide open for both teams. Needing 29 to win from last 2 overs, Manvinder Bisla got run out bringing Chennai back in the game. Kolkata needed 19 to win from last over and it proved too much for them and a brilliant innings by M Bisla went in vain as they lost the match by 14 runs.
