In a contest between two Australian players, Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist led teams were playing against each other today. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first. But this decision could not bear fruits as Rajasthan Royals bowlers got rid of the dangerous Gilchrist in the very first over. This was a big jolt to Deccan Chargers and they could never recover from that. Though Gibbs and Laxman took the score to 40 but once that partnership broke, wickets started to fell like pile of cards. Rohit Sharma (49 runs off 35 balls) tried to play as an anchor but could not find any support from the other end. In the end, they could manage just 148/9 in 20 overs and now the burden lies with the bowlers to save this small total.

Chasing a target of 149 to win and get the momentum, Rajasthan Royals got to a flying start as both openers got a 50 runs opening wicket partnership. This laid a platform for the Rajasthan Royals batsmen to ensure an easy win over Deccan Chargers. Rajasthan Royals were comfortably placed at 100/1 in 11th over. Yusuf Pathan’s innings took any hopes of victory for Deccan Chargers. He scored 73 runs in 34 balls(2*4,8*6) and thus ensured that Rajasthan Royals win the match by 8 wicket and that too in the 16th over. Rajasthan Royals were invited to bat first by Kings XI Punjab in the 19th match of DLF IPL today in Mohali. Rajasthan Royals got to a good start and all the top order batsmen contributed to the team score. Rajasthan Royals batsmen scored freely and three batsmen scored in 40’s. At the end of 20 overs, Rajasthan Royals were able to put a decent score of 183/5 and now it was on the bowlers to restrict Kings XI Punjab so that the Royals can open the account in points tally.

Chasing the target of 184, K Sangakkara and Bopara gave them the perfect start. Kings XI Punjab was scoring runs at more than 10 runs per over and it looked that this match will be a very close call. When K Sangakkara was out in the 4th over, Bisla came to bat and he continued where K Sangakkara left. He hammered the bowlers to all part of the ground and took the score to 85. It was here when the Rajasthan Royals seek the opportunity to come back in the match. After the fall of Yuvraj Singh, wickets started falling quickly and from 85/2 in 8 overs they were reduced to 126/6 in 14.5 overs. A very good start was wasted and Kings XI Punjab who once looked would win this match lost the match by 31 runs as they were limited to 152/10 in 19.1 overs.
