Chennai Super Kings Won DLF IPL 2010The grand finale of DLF IPL 2010 ended with a spectacular ceremony today and in the end it was Chennai Super Kings who won this years mega cricketing event by beating all odds and winning the final against the most consistent team, Mumbai Indians.

Cricket fans were waiting to see this gala finale and it had a perfect ending with MS Dhoni lifting the trophy after a superb game of cricket. Millions of fans around the globe enjoyed 60 thrilling matches in this season. Now it ended with a high note as an Indian captain won this year’s DLF Indian Premier League title.

Earlier, in the match, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off really slowly as Hayden looked totally out of form and was not able to play his shots. But M Vijay played some good shots and took CSK to 44 runs in 7.2 overs before getting out in an attempt to increase the run rate. In the very next over, Hayden also got out and CSK were 47/2 in 8.4 overs. Suresh Raina and Badrinath then played cautiously and crossed the 50 run mark. Badrinath then got out after scoring just 14 and CSK were 67/3 in 11.2 overs. Now all responsibility was on the shoulders of Captain Cool Dhoni and Suresh Raina. They both played superbly and took the score past 100. Suresh Raina was the star for Chennai as he scored 57 runs off just 35 balls. It was his brilliant batting which helped Chennai Super Kings post a total of 168/5 in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians needed 169 to win DLF IPL trophy and the opened with S Dhawan and S Tendulkar. Dhawan got out for a duck and in the second over leaving Mumbai at 1/1 in 1.4 overs. Tendulkar and Nayar then steadied the innings and Mumbai were 33/1 at the end of 6 overs. Sachin and Nayar then took the score to 67 in 11th over, Nayar was run out and in a surprise move, Harbhajan Singh was sent to bat. He also got out for just 1 and Mumbai were 73/3 in 12 overs. Sachin and A Rayudu then took the team score 99. Jakati go the priced wicket of Tendulkar and S Tiwary in the same over and it looked Chennai Super Kings would be back in the game. CSK then got the wicket of Duminy and Mumbai were struggling at 114/6 in 17 overs. They needed another 54 runs in 18 balls and had 4 wickets in hand. K Pollard played a cameo and scored 21 runs in an over and the equation to 33 needed from last 2 overs. But Chennai bowler Morkel kept his head cool and bowled a superb 19th over and took the important wicket of Pollard. It was all over for Mumbai as they needed 27 from last over and they could manage just 146/9 and thus lost the finals to Chennai by 22 runs.

What we were waiting for has finally arrived, a Super Sunday, finish all your pending works and get set for the grand finale of the prestigious INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE.

Today, two of the greatest Indian cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni will take on each other for the ultimate title – DLF IPL 2010 winner. Chennai Super Kings had up’s and downs in this season but when it mattered the most, they have jelled together like a team and have played superbly to enter the finals. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians had a dream run in this season, thanks to Sachin Tendulkar. He has played superbly so far and Mumbai would be hoping to see him in field on Sunday. As per some reports, due to stitches, Sachin is not sure for the final. But cricket fans are hoping to see the God of Cricket back in action in the final.

Mumbai Indians Storm into the IPL 2010 Final

In the first semi final of DLF Indian Premier League 2010, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. All hopes were on Sachin Tendulkar and fans wished to see the blaster again in full flow, but this time millions of hopes were dashed as the master blaster could not give Mumbai a good start and was out for just 9. The other opener, Shikhar Dhawan also got out for just 12 and Mumbai were 29/2 in 3.4 overs. Nayar and Rayadu then got into a 39 run partnership and took the score to 68. Mumbai then lost Nayar (22 runs) and JP Duminy (3 runs) in space of 7 balls and it looked Royal Challenger Bangalore are in control of the game. But then Saurabh Tiwary and A Rayudu played well and took the score close to 150. A Rayudu (40 runs) was the next to get out but his wicket proved to be a blessing in disguise for Mumbai as it brought Pollard (33 runs) and Saurabh Tiwary (52 runs) in the center. They both then fired all cylinders and when it looked Mumbai could post 160 or so, they both scored 34 runs in last 2 overs to post a decent total of 184/5 in 20 overs.

Royal Challengers started with R Dravid and J Kallis. Kallis, the man in form for RCB got out for just 11 and RCB were 24/1 in 2.4 overs. Kevin Pietersen and R Dravid then tried to bring RCB back on track, Harbhajan Singh got the wicket of Kevin Pietersen (19 runs) and thus reduced Royal Challengers to 47/2 in 6.2 overs. Rahul Dravid and Robin Uthapa were at the center and they both scored runs at good run rate and took the score to 81/2 in 9 overs. The 10th over changed the game as Royal Challengers lost 2 wickets in this over and were reduced to 81/4. Dravid and Uthapa both were back in pavilion and Mumbai Indians were back in the game. K Pollard was the star for Mumbai Indians, earlier in batting he played a cameo of 33 runs off just 13 balls and then while bowling he took 3 crucial wickets to knock Royal Challengers Bangalore out of DLF IPL – 3. RCB were 109/6 in 14 overs and needed another 76 runs from 36 balls. Mumbai bowlers then kept RCB batsmen in total control and were finally able to win today’s 1st semi final with a convincing margin of 35 runs.

Bangalore will play the losing team of the second semi final match between Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers. Mumbai Indians will play the winner of that match in the grand finale of IPL 2010.

Match 56 Kolkata Knight Riders Thrash Mumbai Indians

Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Date: April 18, 2010
Time: 8 pm
Toss: Mumbai Indians elected to bat.
Result: Kolkata Knight Riders won by 9 wickets

Mumbai Indians won the toss today and elected to bat first. Today’s match had no impact on semi finals so Mumbai Indian I had as many as six changes in the squad. Aditya Tare and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings but could not give Mumbai a good start. Mumbai Indians were 14/2 in 2.5 overs. Then S Tiwary and J Duminy got into a good partnership and took the score to 77. Tiwary and Duminy both got out at the same score leaving Mumbai Indians struggling at 77/4 in 13.1 overs. The stand in captain D Bravo also failed and Mumbai looked in real trouble with 5 wickets down at 89 in 15.4 overs. A Rayudu and R Satish then took the score past 100 at the end they were able to post a meager total of 133/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 134 to win, KKR got off to a superb start. Ganguly and McCullum played shots right from the first over and scored runs with ease. Both these scored 97 runs for the first wicket partnership. Mumbai Indian bowlers looked clueless against KKR batsmen today. Finally KKR were able to win today’s match by 9 wickets but still they are out of IPL 2010.

A nice end to KKR’s journey of this year’s IPL which witnessed many ups and downs throughout.
