Today in the 12th match of DLF IPL 2012, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field first against Mumbai Indians. Sachin Tendulkar again missed the match due to finger injury, R Levi and T Suman opened the innings for MI and the duo scored 28 in 3.3 overs for the first wicket partnership. R Levi and Rohit Sharma then smashed bowlers to all corners and just when the partnership was getting dangerous for Royals, Hodge bowled Rohit Sharma when the team score was 59. Soon Levi was also bowled by Hodge and MI were 68/3 in 8.2 overs. A Rayudu and K Pollard then took the charge and scored runs with ease. Both of them hammered Rajasthan bowlers, Pollard was particularly severe on them as he scored 64 runs off 33 balls (6×4 4×6) before getting out. A Rayudu 47 not out off 32 balls (1×4 3×6) took from where Pollard left and he along with Harbhajan Singh (18 not out off 6 balls (1×4 2×6) propelled MI score to 197/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 198 to win, Royals lost two quick wickets i.e. R Dravid and S Goswami in the second over of the innings when the team score was just 7. At 7/2, they needed a solid partnership and A Rahane and Owais Shah played sensible cricket and took the team score to 89 before A Rahane got out after scoring 40 off 31 balls (4×4 2×6). Needing another 108 runs to win in 52 balls, Owais Shah stepped the peddle as he smashed MI bowlers to all corners of the ground. But once again it was Lasith Malinga who came to the rescue of MI as he bowled Owais Shah (76runs off 42 balls, 5×4, 5×6) and got the wicket of J Botha in the same over. RR were struggling at 136/5 in 14.4 overs and needed 62 runs in 32 balls. Though A Menaria and K Cooper hit few boundaries to match the required rate but it was out of their reach and finally Royals tasted their first defeat in IPL 2012 as they were bundled for 170 in 19.4 overs.

Today in the 9th match of DLF IPL 2012, Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first against Mumbai Indians at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. Deccan Chargers could not take advantage of the toss as Munaf Patel and Lasith Malinga bowled superbly and took two quick wickets leaving DC struggling at 9/2 in 3.1 overs. S Dhawan and D Christian then had a 37 run partnership in 23 balls and just when it looked that Deccan Chargers are getting settled, S Dhawan got out after scoring 41 runs off 24 balls which included 2 fours and 4 sixes. K Sangakkara and D Christian then took the score to 82 when Sangakkara got out leaving Deccan at 82/4 in 12.3 overs. D Christian and C White then took the charge of accelerating the run rate, the duo added 41 runs in 23 balls before Christian got out after scoring 38 runs off 36 balls which included 1 four and 2 sixes. C White played some good shots for his 22 ball 30 run which included 1 four and 2 sixes cameo and helped Deccan Chargers post a total of 138/9 in 20 overs.

Chasing 139 to win, Mumbai Indians lost both their openers to D Steyn and were reeling at 10/2 in 4 overs. Rohit Sharma and A Rayudu then took the team score past 50 in the 11th over. MI needed 90 to win from last 10 overs. With the required rate at 9 runs per over, chances had to be taken and during the process, A Rayudu got out. But his wicket brought Pollard on the crease and he along with R Sharma started to score runs with ease. The duo added 37 runs in 5 overs before Pollard was out after scoring 24 off 18 balls (0x4 3×6). The match was evenly poised at this stage as MI needed 45 to win from 24 balls and stage was all set for a nail-biting finish. Rohit Sharma completed his half century and the hit some mighty sixes to bring the game to last over. MI needed 18 to win in the last over and the first ball was hit for a four by J Franklin. In last three balls 11 were needed, Rohit Sharma hit a six to take his team to 134/5 in 19.4 overs. On Last ball, MI needed 3 to win and Rohit Sharma hit a six to give his team a great victory.
