Yusuf Pathan and Gautam Gambhir scored 27 runs before Pathan got out after scoring 19 off 6 balls. KKR were 271 in 1.1 overs. Gautam Gambhir and Jacques Kallis then took the team score past 50. Gambir was the next to fall as he scored 26 off 20 balls before falling to Ojha. Kallis and Manoj Tiwary scored 37 and 33 respectively. It was a collective team effort as every batsmen contributed to the team score. In the end Eoin Morgan’s 25 ball 21 helped KKR post 159/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 160 to win, Dwayne Smith and Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings and scored 29 in 4.5 overs before Birthday Boy Sachin was bowled by Narine when he was on just 2 to spoil the party. Dwayne Smith continued his onslaught as he smashed KKR bowlers to all corners of the park. Dinesh Karthik also fell cheaply as he scored just 7. Needing 78 to win from last 10 overs, Mumbai were riding on D Smith’s innings but in the 11th over Dwayne Smith got out after scoring 62 off 42 balls(3×4,5×6). Rohit Sharma and Kevin Pollard then continued from where Smith left. Rohit Sharma scored 34 off 28 balls which included 1 four and 2 sixes before getting out when the team score was 132. Kevin Pollard and Ambati Rayudu then took Mumbai Indians inches away from win win Pollard got out. Harbhajan singh smashed a six and then Rayudu hit a four to take Mumbai towards a 5 wicket win.

Today in the 28th match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first. The change in the opening pair didnt do much benefit as Dwayne Smith got out after scoring just 8. Star of Mumbai in this season, Dinesh Karthik also got out cheaply leaving Mumbai at 22/2 in 5.1 overs. But master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma then played superbly and took the team out of crisis. The master completed his half century and scored 54 off 47 balls (3×4,2×6) before getting out. Rohit Sharma was at his devastating best today as he hammered Delhi bowlers to all corners of the ground. He scored 73 off 43 balls which included 5 fours and 5 sixes. Finally Mumbai posted a total of 161/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 162 for a desperate win, Delhi opened with Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag. From the very first ball, Sehwag looked in no mood to spare Mumbai bowlers as he and Mahela scored 151 runs in 15.5 overs for the first wicket stand. Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane gave them the perfect start as the duo added 62 runs in 7.2 overs before Watson got out. But this did not deter Ajinkya Rahane who continued to play his shots. He and Dishant Yagnik then took the score past 100 and laid a solid platform for a huge total. Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten on 68 off 54 balls which included 8 fours and 1 six. A cameo of 27 in 15 balls by Brad Hodge helped them post a total of 179/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 180 to win, Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting once again failed to give Mumbai a good start and both of them were out when the team score was 10.
