Saurav Ganguly won the toss and elected to bat first. Ganguly and Gayle opened the innings for Kolkata Knight Riders. Though Kolkata Knight Riders lost Gayle when the team score was just 15, Ganguly was today at his best on the other hand. Kolkata Knight Riders kept loosing wickets at regular interval but Saurav Dada stood firm on the other end. Chasing a total of 182 to win, Deccan Chargers lost Gilchrist early but Gibbs and Mishra steadied the innings and took the score to 77 when Mishra was eventually out. Gibbs and Symond then took the score past 100 and it looked like KKR’s would really have a tough time saving this match. But then again a twist came into match when KKR got two priced wickets of Gibbs and Rohit Sharma and Deccan Chargers were 137/4 in 17.2 overs. It was an impossible task for Deccan Chargers wo win this match as they needed 36 runs to win from last 9 balls and eventually they could make only 157/5 in 20 overs and thus lost the match by 24 runs.

Result: Mumbai Indians won by 41 runs

Deccan Chargers invited Mumbai Indians to bat first today in the 25th match of DLF Indian Premier League 2010. Though Mumbai Indians lost the opener S Dhawan when the team score was just 24 but Sachin Tendulkar once again showed his class and kept on to score 55runs. Mumbai Indians middle order fumbled and wickets kept falling regularly and at one stage it looked that they wont be able to score more than 130. But then Harbhajan Singh came to bat and threw his bat on almost everthing. He scored 49 off just 18 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. It was the cameo from Turbanator which took the team to a decent total of 172/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 173, Deccan Chargers got the worst possible start as they lost Adam Gilchrist in the very first over by Harbhajan leaving Deccan Chargers at 0/1. This was such a jolt that Deccan Chargers could never came back. They kept loosing wickets and were reduced to 50/4 in 6 overs. Run rate was increasing and no partnership was building up, only Rohit Sharma stood tall for some time but he could not find any support from other batsmen and finally they were all out for 131. In a contest between two Australian players, Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist led teams were playing against each other today. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first. But this decision could not bear fruits as Rajasthan Royals bowlers got rid of the dangerous Gilchrist in the very first over. This was a big jolt to Deccan Chargers and they could never recover from that. Though Gibbs and Laxman took the score to 40 but once that partnership broke, wickets started to fell like pile of cards. Rohit Sharma (49 runs off 35 balls) tried to play as an anchor but could not find any support from the other end. In the end, they could manage just 148/9 in 20 overs and now the burden lies with the bowlers to save this small total.

Chasing a target of 149 to win and get the momentum, Rajasthan Royals got to a flying start as both openers got a 50 runs opening wicket partnership. This laid a platform for the Rajasthan Royals batsmen to ensure an easy win over Deccan Chargers. Rajasthan Royals were comfortably placed at 100/1 in 11th over. Yusuf Pathan’s innings took any hopes of victory for Deccan Chargers.
