Today in the second match of the day and the 4th of IPL season 7, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Rajasthan Royals at 8 pm Indian Standard Time.

Both of these teams finished in top 4 teams in the last season. Despite lacking big names, these teams have played superbly and have impressed one and all. RR look to be slighly above Hyderabad due to the recent form of Amit Mishra but if Hyderabad’s Dale Steyn gets rolling, it would be a real tough battle today.

IPL 2013 – Rajasthan Royals Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad In A Nail Biting Finish To Enter Qualifier

Result – Rajasthan Royals won by 4 wickets

Today in the eliminator match of IPL 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings for Sunrisers but could not give them a good start as Patel got out in the first over itself leaving Sunrisers at 2/1 in 1 over. Hanuma Vihari also got out cheaply leaving Hyderabad in trouble at 3/2 in 2.3 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and captain Cameron White then steadied the innings and took the score past 50. Just when the duo started to gain momentum, Trivedi got the wicket of White leaving Sunrisers at 55/3 in 11 overs. Shikhar Dhawan was the next to fall after scoring 33 off 39 balls and Sunrisers were placed at 83/4 in 15.4 overs. It was Darren Sammy’s 21 ball 29 along with Perera’s 6 ball 11 and Biplab Samantray’s 14 off 11 balls which helped Sunrisers post a total of 132/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 133 to win and meet Mumbai in the second qualifier, Rajasthan Royals openers Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane added 13 runs for the first wicket stand. Dravid was the man to fall after scoring 12 off 10 balls. Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane then took the team score to 50 when Shane Watson was caught brilliantly by Sammy near the boundary to reduce Royals to 50/2 in 6.4 overs. Royals were placed well as they needed just 83 to win from 80 balls and had 8 wicket in hand but some superb bowling by Sunrisers helped them make a match out of it. Royals lost three quick wickets and were pegged back as they went from 50/2 to 57/5 in 10 overs. With half the team back in pavilion, Royals needed some one to anchor the innings. Brad Hodge played a superbly to keep Royals in the hunt for victory. Needing 42 to win from last 6 overs, the game was poised for an interesting finish. Brad Hodge first with Sanju Samson and then with James Faulkner kept the scorecard moving and scored occasional boundaries and sixes and made sure the match continues till the last over and has a nail biting finish. Finally it was a superb innings of 54 in 29 balls by Hodge will helped Rajasthan beat Sunrisers by 4 wickets.

Today in a do or die match of IPL 2013 eliminator, Rajasthan Royals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Both these teams have a wonderful home record but today’s neutral venue will be a challenge for both of them. Sunrisers who made in the playoffs with a win in their last match will be hoping to continue with the winning momentum and make it to the second qualifier.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have been low on morale due to recent spot fixing charges and also as they suffered a humiliating defeat in their last match against Sunrisers. But this team is known for coming back when needed the most and thus fans will be hoping that Royals avenge the defeat at the hands of Hyderabad in style today and move to the second qualifier.

Today in the last league match of IPL 2013, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will take on spirited Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

This match is very important from Sunrisers point of view as if they win today, they will be the 4th team to qualify for the playoffs where as if they loose, the RCB will qualify depending on the net run rate as both teams will be tied at 18 points in the points tally. Sunrisers Hyderabad Beat Rajasthan Royals To Move Closer To Playoffs Spot

Result – Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 23 runs

Today in the 68th match of IPL 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Faulkner claimed two wickets in the second over of the innings leaving Sunrisers at 4/2 in 2 overs. With both openers Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan back, captain Cameron White and Hanuma Vihari had a huge responsibility on their shoulders but captain White got our on a duck leaving Sunrisers in deep trouble at 5/3 in 2.4 overs. Hanuma Vihari and Biplab Samantray then tried to revive Sunrisers prospects and the duo added 44 runs before Hanuma got out after scoring 19 off 28 balls. With 49/4 in 10.3 overs, Sunrisers needed some one to raise the run rate. Biplab Samantray and Darren Sammy then took the team score past 100 with superb knocks of 55 and 23 respectively. 13 ball 17 by Thisara Perera finally helped Sunrisers post a total of 136/9 in 20 overs.

Chasing 137 to win and make qualifying for Sunrisers hard, Royals got off to a good start as captain Dravid and Rahane added 39 in 7.3 overs before Rahul Dravid was run out by White for 25. This was the one wicket which change the course of the match as wickets started to fell at regular intervals. Ajinkya Rahane was the next to fall followed by Sanju Samson. At 51/3 in 11.5 overs, Royals still looked in command as they had Watson and Stuart Binny but Perera accounted for both of them leaving Royals half down at 65/5 in 14 overs. The middle order and lower middle order collapsed within 3 overs and Royals were in tatters at 85/8 in 17.1 overs. Kevon Cooper’s 26, the highest individual score from Royals in this match finally helped Royals to reach 113/9 in 20 overs and thus lose the match by 23 runs.

With this win, Sunrisers have moved one step closer to the playoffs. Kings XI Punjab are now out of the playoff contention and now Sunrisers will be hoping that Chennai beats RCB otherwise it would go to the net run rate. The team with better run rate will be the 4th team to qualify.
