Kolkata Knight Riders Won By 23 Runs

In the 32nd match of DLF – IPL Deccan Chargers lost yet again and thus it looked like they are virtually out of the race for the semi finals. Chasing a mammoth target of 205, they lost Gibbs very soon and then Gilchrist played some shots before perishing for 24. He was the only hope for Deccan Chargers and once the Kolkata Knight Riders got his wicket half the battle was won.Rohit Sharma and V. Rao played some good shots but the asking rate was beyond the reach. Rao played brilliantly and at one stage it looked like he will take the win out of the jaws of Knight Riders but all the efforts failed as they needed 33 runs in the last over. Rao scored a brilliant 71 of just 42 balls. With this loss, Deccan Chargers have made it almost impossible to enter the semifinals.

Ganguly And Hussey Help Knight Riders Score 204

In the 32nd match of DLF – IPL Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bat first.They lost Salman Butt earlier but after that it was the prince of Kolkata – Saurav Ganguly who played a superb innings of 91 runs of just 57 balls. Akash Chopra and Ganguly added 69 runs and this partnership laid a strong platform for the Knight Riders. After Chopra got out, David Hussey came to the center and this duo really took the charge and dealt with mostly fours and sixes. Ganguly played a captain’s knock but missed his first century in Indian Premier League by 9 runs, but the damage was already done. On the other hand David Hussey was busy hitting fours and sixes. He completed his 50 in 24 balls by hitting a six to R.P Singh.

Apart from the excellent batting by Knight Riders, they were helped by sloppy fielding of Deccan Chargers. Deccan Chargers have no one else to blame but them self for dropping catches, giving doubles when singles was also not there and overthrowing. The target of 204 is huge and it looks like Deccan Chargers would have to bat extraordinarily to win this match and stay in the competition.
