The scintillating batting display continues by Glen Maxwell and so does the winning streak of Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab who were invited to bat first by Sunrisers got off to a flying start with both openers, Sehwag and Pujara adding on 51 runs in 6.4 overs before Sehwag got out (30 off 22 balls 2×4, 3×6). This fall of wicket bought the leading run scorer so far in IPL, Maxwell to the crease and crackers started to burst all over. Right from the first ball he attacked each and every Sunriser bowler and scored a brilliant 95 off 43 balls (5×4, 9×6) and helped Kings XI Punjab post a decent total of 193/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 194 needed a solid start but captain Shikar Dhawan got out in the second over leaving the team at 11/1 in 1.2 overs. Soon a twin blow by Balaji in the 5th over put Sunrisers in a dock as he got the priced wickets of Aaron Finch and David Warner. Sunrisers Hyderabad were struggling at 33/3 in 4.5 overs and needed some one to play till the end. But the increasing run rate pressurized the batsmen to play wrong shots and wickets started falling one after the another. With 5 key wickets down at the score of 74 in the 11th over, it looked all over for Sunrisers. Lokesh Rahul scored a run a ball 27 but it was too little too late and eventually Sunrisers were bundled out for 121 and thus lost the match by 72 runs. It was the third successive win for Kings XI Punjab in as many matches and thus they moved to the top of Points table.

In a totally one sided match today, Chennai Super Kings thrashed Delhi Daredevils by 93 runs to register their first win in the seventh season of Pepsi Indian Premier League. Chennai who won the toss and elected to bat first opened their innings with Dwayne Smaith and Brendon McCullum. The duo added 23 runs for the first wicket stand but the real star for Chennai was Suresh Raina who scored 41 ball 56 (5×4,1×6) and was well supported by cameos from Faf du Plessis (24 off 17 balls) and captain MS Dhoni(32 off 15 balls). It was due to this superb batting effort that Chennai were able to post a healthy total of 177/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 178 to win, Delhi never ever looked in for chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Mayank Agarwal was the first to got out when the team score was just 8 followed by Murali Vijay and Manoj Tiwary within the span of 5 balls. Delhi were struggling at 17/3 in 4.2 overs and needed yet another face saving innings from JP Duminy and Dinesh Karthik. The duo got some start but were tamed by Chennai bowlers and after the fall of Duminy in the 9th over, Chennai seized the opportunity and got wickets one after the another. Finally Delhi were able to score 84/9 in 15.4 overs with Nathan Coulter-Nile declared absent hurt and thus Chennai registered their first comprehensive win in this season.

Today in the 8th match of Pepsi IPL Season 7, Chennai Super Kings will take on Delhi Daredevils at 8 pm Indian time. Chennai who have played and the lost their first match will be hoping to get their act together and the prime area of concern would be bowling. In their last match, the batsmen piled mountain of runs(205/4) but still Chennai lost to Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets.

Delhi Daredevils have played 2 matches, lost the first match to RCB but bounced back well to win one against KKR . A superb innings of 89 in 45 balls (8×4,6×6) by Glenn Maxwell along with the firecrackers in the final overs by David Miller (51 off 19 balls, 0x4, 6×6) helped Kings XI Punjab achieve yet another high score and register a comfortable win chasing 192. Kings XI Punjab got off to a poor start with Virender Sehwag getting out in the second over soon followed by Wriddhiman Saha. Kings XI Punjab were struggling at 10/2 in 2.4 overs and again needed the million dollar baby Glenn Maxwell to deliver. He proved why he is the most expensive player as he scored a brilliant 45 balls 89 to bring Kings XI Punjab on track of a successful chase. Once Maxwell got out, the focus shifted on Miller and he along with Cheteshwar Pujara who played a real good anchor took the Royal bowlers and blunted all attacks. David Miller hit 6 sixes in his 19 ball 51 and made sure that the target of 193 was achieved 8 balls to spare.

Earlier Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field first. The decision was widely criticized by cricket experts as the pitch was a perfect batting track. The decision seemed to backfire as Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start with the team crossing 50 in the sixth over. Despite both the openers being back in pavilion, Royals launched an all out attack with Shane Watson(50 off 29 balls, 5×4, 3×6) and Sanju Samson(52 off 34 balls, 3×4, 4×6) hitting boundaries and sixes at will. The duo added 74 in 7 overs and laid a solid platform for a huge total. A final onslaught by Steven Smith helped Rajasthan Royals post a total of 191/5 in 20 overs.
