Defending champions Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field first against Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of the third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders had a good start with 50 runs in 8.2 overs. KKR’s score was 100 runs in 15.4 overs (99 balls). AD Mathews (not out) scored 65 runs off 46 balls. OA Shah (not out) made 58 runs. Brad Hodge scored 13 runs. Manoj Tiwari and Captain Saurav Ganguly couldn’t make any run.

Kolkata Knight Riders scored a total of 161 runs for a loss of 4 wickets.

Deccan Chargers scored 150 runs for a loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Adam Gilchrist scored 54 runs. VVS Laxman scored 22.
