In a contest between two Australian players, Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist led teams were playing against each other today. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first. But this decision could not bear fruits as Rajasthan Royals bowlers got rid of the dangerous Gilchrist in the very first over. This was a big jolt to Deccan Chargers and they could never recover from that. Though Gibbs and Laxman took the score to 40 but once that partnership broke, wickets started to fell like pile of cards. Rohit Sharma (49 runs off 35 balls) tried to play as an anchor but could not find any support from the other end. In the end, they could manage just 148/9 in 20 overs and now the burden lies with the bowlers to save this small total.

Chasing a target of 149 to win and get the momentum, Rajasthan Royals got to a flying start as both openers got a 50 runs opening wicket partnership. This laid a platform for the Rajasthan Royals batsmen to ensure an easy win over Deccan Chargers. Rajasthan Royals were comfortably placed at 100/1 in 11th over. Yusuf Pathan’s innings took any hopes of victory for Deccan Chargers. In the 21st match of Indian Premier League 2010, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. This decision looked good as they got two priced wickets of Parthiv Patel and Mathew Hayden and reduced Chennai Super Kings to 38/2 in 5 overs. But then Suresh Raina and Badrinath played superbly and got into an excellent partnership which took the score to 180/2 in 20 overs. Raina who handed over the captaincy to Dhoni in today’s match was at its very best and was hitting fours and sixes at will. He scored 83 runs off just 52 balls(4*7,3*6) and was fully supported by Badrinath who scored 55(4*6) of just 45 balls.

Mumbai Indians had to chase 180 to win this match and they started off really well with Sachin and Shikhar Dhawan. They both scored at more than 10 runs per over. Shikhar Dhawan got out after scoring a well deserved 50. Mumbai Indians were placed comfortably at 92/1 in 8.5 overs. Though the middle order failed and team was reduced to 159/4 but Sachin Tendulkar was firm on one end and took the team to victory . It was once again a superb captain knock by Tendulkar ( 72 runs 52 balls 4*8,6*1) which ensured Mumbai Indians victory over Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets.

Royal Challengers won the toss and invited Delhi Daredevils to bat first.Desperate to get the winning momentum back,Delhi Daredevils openers gave them a good start. Warner and Sehwag scored over 10 runs per over before Warner got out in the 4th over with team score of 44/1 in 3.2 overs. Soon Sehwag also got out but Delhi Daredevils batsmen continued to make runs at good run rate. AB Villers and Kedar Jadhav got to a good partnership. Kedar Jadhav came as a surprise shocker for Royal Challengers Bangalore as he scored 50 runs of just 29 balls. In the end, Kedar Jadhav and Andrew McDonald took Delhi Daredevils score to 183/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 184 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore started on a cautious note. The strategy seemed to be to save wickets and then launch the attack in end overs. Manish Pandey and Kallis gave them a solid start and took the score to 71 before Kallis got out in the 10t over. It was this wicket which paved way for Delhi Daredevils to strike back and break the middle order of Royal Challengers Bangalore. From 71/1 they were reduced to 90/4 in 12 overs. They needed a partnership to get another 94 runs in 8 overs. The required rate was mounting and the Royal Challengers Bangalore crumbled under this pressure. To add to the woes, some superb fielding by Delhi Daredevils and poor running by Royal Challengers led to 3 run outs. Royal Challengers could manage only 166/9 and thus lost the match by 17 runs.
