Chasing 158 to win, Sehwag lead DD got off to a disastrous start as they lost Sehwag’s wicket for a duck in the very first over. But A Finch and N Ojha played sensibly and took the attack to RCB bowlers and the duoadded 42 runs for the second wicket partnership. Ojha got out when team score was 55 and his wicket triggered a wicket fall as A Finch and G Maxwell also got out in quick succession leaving the score at 76/4 in 11.4 overs. DD needed 82 more to win from 50 balls and had 6 wickets in hand. The run rate was mounting on and this pressure was more than what DD batsmen could handle. Irfan Pathan came to the center an played a superb cameo of 24 off just 15 balls (2×4 1×6) but the required rate was above 13 runs per over and thus DD could manage just 137/7 in 20 overs and thus lost the match by 20 runs.

Earlier, Delhi won the toss and elected to field first. Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a good start and scored 37 for the first wicket partnership in just 4 overs. C Pujara was the first to get out soon followed by A McDonald, V Kohli and S Tiwary. From 36/1 RCB slumped to 59/4. AB de Villiers was firm on one end and scored 64 runs off 42 balls which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. It was his gallant effort which helped RCB post a total of 157/8 in 20 overs.

Result – Rajasthan Royals won by 31 runs

Kings XI Punjab had to chase a huge total of 192 to register the win and they started off really well with Gilchrist and P Valthaty putting together a 36 runs partnership for the first wicket. Gilchrist did the bulk of the scoring and got out after scoring 27 off just 18 balls. From 36/1, KXIP fell to 61/4 in 8 overs as P Valthaty, S Marsh and A Nayar felt within quick succession. D Hussey and M Singh then tried to steady the innings but the run rate was mounting high and high. KXIP needed 118 in last 10 overs and it was a mountain task to achieve. Wicket started to fell as KXIP batsmen were looking to speed up the run rate but eventually they failed to do so and lost the match by 31 runs as they could manage just 160/9 in 20 overs.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field but Rahul Dravid and A Rahane proved their decision wrong with a superb 77 run first wicket partnership. After the wicket of Dravid, A Menaria got out on a duck but this did not put brake on the scoring rate of Royals. A Rahane and B Hodge then put 75 run (39balls) partnership before Hodge got out after scoring 21 runs off 16 balls. A Rahane though missed on his century by 2 runs but his brilliant knock of 98 off just 66 balls included 16 fours and 1 six. A superb batting performance by RR propelled the team score to 191/4 in 20 overs.
