Chennai Super Kings Beat RCB in Final Over

Today in the 16th match of IPL Season 6, Chennai Super Kings elected to field first and they got the priced wicket of Christ Gayle in the second over itself. But man in form Virat Kohli and Mayank Agarwal then steadied the innings and took the score to 51 before Mayank got out. But Kohli( 58 off 47 balls) and AB de Villiers(64 off 32 balls) then hammered Chennai bowlers and registered half centuries. The duo added 83 runs in 8 overs and helped RCB post a decent total of 165/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 166 to win, Chennai lost both openers cheaply. With 10/2 in 4 overs, Chennai had a long way to go and Suresh Raina and S Badrinath then steadied the innings. Just when the pair started to look dangerous, Raina got out and soon S Badrinath also lost his wicket. With CSK struggling at 78/4 in 12.2 overs, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja took the initiative and played sensible cricket. MS Dhoni scored 33 off 23 balls before getting out where as Ravindra Jadeja scored a match winning 38 off 20 balls to help Chennai win by 4 wickets.

Mumbai Indians Defeated Pune Warriors by 41 Runs

Today in the 15th match of IPL 2013, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. The star opening pair of Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar gave Mumbai a perfect start as the duo added 54 runs in just 7.1 overs for the first wicket stand. Sachin Tendulkar smashed a 29 ball 44 which included 7 fours and 1 six. After the fall of Ponting and Sachin, Dinesh Karthik along with Rohit Sharma continued the momentum and took the score to 115 before Karthik got out after scoring 41 off 29 balls.(4×4,1×6). But Rohit Sharma and Kevin Pollard maintained the scoring rate and helped Mumbai post a decent total of 183/3 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma was at his devastating best as he scored 62 off just 32 balls which included 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Chasing 184 to win, Pune got off to a disastrous start as they lost Aaron Finch on the very first ball. Robin Uthappa and Ross Taylor also got out cheaply leaving Pune struggling at 13/3 in 2.3 overs. The middle order then showed some resistance but none of them were able to convert it into a high score. Yuvraj Singh, Tirumalsetti Suman and Angelo Mathews all fell after getting start and thus Pune were struggling at 89/6 in 12.2 overs. Mitchell Marsh’s cameo of 38 was not sufficient as Pune could manage to score 142/8 thereby loosing the match by 41 runs.

Chennai Super Kings who won their last match against Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets are beaming with confidence where as RCB who are riding of Gayle Storm with 3 wins out of 4 matches will be looking to thrash Chennai in today’s match.

The battle in the field will be between the explosive batsmen as CSK has Michael Hussey, S Raina and MS Dhoni where as Royal Challengers Bangalore possess Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Beats Delhi Daredevils in a Nail Biting Finish

Result – Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 3 wickets

Today in the 14th match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a disastrous start as they lost David Warner for a duck. In the 5th over of innings, Ishant Sharma’s double strike put Delhi on backfoot. Delhi lost both Sehwag and Mahela on consecutive balls and were reduced to 26/3 in 4.4 overs. Irfan Pathan and Kedar Jadav then played sensibly and scored 23 and 30 respectively. Finally Delhi posted a modest total of 114/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 115 to win, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost Akshath Reddy in the second over when the team score was just 2. Parthiv Patel and Kumar Sangakkara then steadied the innings and took the score to 46 before Patel got out. This wicket gave Delhi the opportunity to come back and Delhi bowlers utilized it to the maximum. From 46/2 Sunrisers slipped to 71/5 in 14.2 overs. With 26 to win from last 4 overs, Morkel striked and got the wicket of dangerous looking Ashish Reddy. The match was poised for a nail biting finish as Delhi bowlers striked again and got the wicket of Thisara Perera. Sunrisers Hyderbad held on the nerves in the final over and finally won the match by 3 wickets thanks to the match winning innings of 16 runs by Amit Mishra.
