The poor performance by Delhi continued as they suffered yet another defeat as Rajasthan Royals impressive all round performance helped them win by 64 runs today.
Chasing 202 to win, Delhi never looked in contention for the run chase. Right from the very first over the batsmen looked in pressure and as the first wicket fell in the third over when the score was just 19, wickets started to fell after regular intervals. Mayank Agarwal was the first to fall followed by Dinesh Karthik. Delhi’s hope were on captain Pieterson and JP Duminy but they failed and with their fall, Delhi looked in dire circumstances. Delhi were struggling at 48/4 in 7.4 overs and it looked that they might not be even able to play their complete 20 overs. But Manoj Tiwary stood firm and scored brilliant 61 runs off 44 balls but his efforts went in vain as no other Delhi batsmen could stand up and deliver. Evntually Delhi were able to post 139/9 in 20 overs and thus lost the match by 62 runs.
Earlier Rajasthan Royals were invited to bat first by Delhi Daredevils. Royals got off to a good start with openers Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair adding 44 for the first wicket stand. After the wicket fall, Rahane and Kevon Cooper started playing aggressive cricket and took the score to 93 in 10.a overs. Cooper was the next to fall but his 16 ball 32 set the platform for a good total. Rahane on the other end continued his good form and completed his half century. He played superbly for his 64 before being bowled out of Nadeem. Sanju Samson’s 25 ball 40 and James Faulkner’s 8 ball 23 helped Royals post a total of 201/6 in 20 overs.
