A good overall performance by Chennai Super Kings helped then beat Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets and move to the top of points table.
Chasing 149 to win and move to the top spot in points table, CSK lost Brendon McCullum cheaply when the team score was just 20. Suresh Raina fell for just 2 and CSK looked in trouble with 41/2 in 4.2 overs but Dwayne Smith and Faf du Plessis revived the innings and took the score to 76 in 10 overs. Dwayne Smith was the next to fall but he had done his job with 35 ball 44. Ravichandran Ashwin and Faf du Plessis then took the team score past 100. Ravichandran Ashwin got the start but failed to continue as he was bowled by Ahswin when he was on 14. Soon Faulkner got the priced wicket of Faf du Plessis ( 38 off 39 balls) to raise some hopes for Rajasthan. Once again it was on the shoulders of
R Jadeja and MS Dhoni to take their team to victory. MS Dhoni’s 16 ball 26 and R Jadeja’s 6 ball 11 helped CSK register a comprehensive 5 wicket win today.
Earlier Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first. The pitch was really slow today and run scoring was getting very difficult. Rajasthan Royals changed the batting order and opened with Ankit Sharma and captain Shane Watson. The duo started slowly but once they were settled they unleashed fours and sixes and added 60 runs in 7.5 overs before Ankit got out. Ajinkya Rahane was the next to fall as he was run out by McCullum for just 4. Shane Watson completed his half century and scored a brilliant 51 in 36 balls. Apart from him, only Stuart Binny and Ankit were able to score in double digits and eventually Royals were able to post 148/8 in 20 overs.
