Match: 50th T20, IPL3
Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai
Date: April 15, 2010
Toss: Chennai Super Kings elected to bat
Result: Delhi Daredevils Won by 6 wickets
Man of the match: G Gambhir

The half century of matches in this IPL – 3 was completed today with the 50th match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils. Both the teams were desperate to win today’s match so as to move ahead in points table. Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. But they got off to a poor start as they lost Hayden when the team score was just 9. MS Dhoni who has not fired in this tournament also got out for a duck and Chennai were struggling at 13/2 in 2.2 overs. All hopes were on Murli Vijay and Suresh Raina, but that too ended soon as Murli Vijay was out leaving CSK struggling at 23/3 in 3.4 overs. Raina and Hussey then took the team score past 50 in 7.3 overs. Raina was the next to get out and his wicket triggered the collapse of CSK batting order. Within a span of 3 runs they lost three wickets and were in dire straits at 55/6 in 10 overs. S Badrinath’s 30 was the highest score from CSK batsmen and he along with Bollinger took the team to a total of 112/9 in 20 overs.

Chennai’s fan were utterly disappointed with the batting performance and were praying that today the bowling saves them. The bowlers got a fantastic start and got rid of Warner in the very first over. Soon Delhi Daredevils lost 2 more wickets adding much excitement to the low scoring match. Delhi Daredevils were 6/3 in 1.4 overs and they needed a partnership which could help them win today’s match. At the starting of 11th over, Delhi Daredevils scoring rate was identical to that of CSK i.e. 56/4. Gambhir 57 runs off 56 balls) and Mithun Manhas 25 runs off 32 balls) then got on to a good partnership which steadied the drowning ship of Delhi Daredevils. Gambhir played a captain’s knock and helped Delhi win by 6 wickets and move above CSK in points table.

Match 44 Meek Surrender By Delhi Against Punjab

Match Details
Match: 44 T20, IPL3
Venue:Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi
Date: April 11, 2010
Time: 4:00 pm
Toss: Delhi Daredevils elected to bat.
Result: Punjab won by 7 wickets
Man of the match: P Chawla

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat first against Kings XI Punjab. Delhi Daredevils got to the worst possible start and lost Sehwag in the 2nd over. This triggered the fall of wickets as none of the Delhi batsmen could offer any resistance to the bowlers of Kings XI Punjab. Wickets kept tumbling one after the other and it looked like Kings XI are playing against a local team rather than Delhi Daredevils. Kings XI showed superb fielding and bowling to restrict Delhi Daredevils to a paltry total of 111/10 in 19.4 overs. This is so far the worst performance by Delhi Daredevils as only two batsmen could score in twenties (26 each). Now Delhi Daredevils can only hope that the bowlers produce a magical spell to restrict Kings XI.

Needing 112 to win, Kings XI Punjab started off cautiously but confidently. Kings XI Punjab were playing for pride and the bowlers had already did a splendid job. Now it was batsmen turn and they also did not let them down. Kings XI top order played well in this low scoring match and eventually they won it by 7 wickets in 18.4 overs.
