In a thrilling encounter today, Chennai Super Kings kept their nerves and clinched the match by 7 runs, thanks to the superb all round performance by Ravindra Jadeja.

Chasing 141 to win, Rajasthan Royals lost Abhishek Nayar in the second over when the team score was just 10. Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson then added 27 runs before Rahane got out. A twin blow in the 7th over as captain Shane Watson and Sanju Samson fell of consecutive balls by Ravindra Jadeja brought CSK back in the match. Royals were struggling at 44/4 in 6.5 overs and needed a partnership to continue the run chase. But CSK bowlers typically Jadeja never allowed them to free their arms and finally Royals were all out for 133 and thus lost the match by 7 runs.

Earlier Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field. Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith added 35 runs for the first wicket stand before McCullum got out after scoring just 6. D Smith was the next to fall after scoring 28 ball 50 and with this wicket, CSK batsmen kept falling one after the another. From 59/2 they slumped to 74/5 but then some good batting by R Jadeja helped them post a total of 140/6 in 20 overs.

In a totally one sided match today, Chennai Super Kings thrashed Delhi Daredevils by 93 runs to register their first win in the seventh season of Pepsi Indian Premier League. Chennai who won the toss and elected to bat first opened their innings with Dwayne Smaith and Brendon McCullum. The duo added 23 runs for the first wicket stand but the real star for Chennai was Suresh Raina who scored 41 ball 56 (5×4,1×6) and was well supported by cameos from Faf du Plessis (24 off 17 balls) and captain MS Dhoni(32 off 15 balls). It was due to this superb batting effort that Chennai were able to post a healthy total of 177/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 178 to win, Delhi never ever looked in for chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Mayank Agarwal was the first to got out when the team score was just 8 followed by Murali Vijay and Manoj Tiwary within the span of 5 balls. Delhi were struggling at 17/3 in 4.2 overs and needed yet another face saving innings from JP Duminy and Dinesh Karthik. The duo got some start but were tamed by Chennai bowlers and after the fall of Duminy in the 9th over, Chennai seized the opportunity and got wickets one after the another. Finally Delhi were able to score 84/9 in 15.4 overs with Nathan Coulter-Nile declared absent hurt and thus Chennai registered their first comprehensive win in this season.

Today in the 8th match of Pepsi IPL Season 7, Chennai Super Kings will take on Delhi Daredevils at 8 pm Indian time. Chennai who have played and the lost their first match will be hoping to get their act together and the prime area of concern would be bowling. In their last match, the batsmen piled mountain of runs(205/4) but still Chennai lost to Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets.

Delhi Daredevils have played 2 matches, lost the first match to RCB but bounced back well to win one against KKR . In a thriller today, it was Glenn Maxwell who single handidly took the match away from Chennai Super Kings. Kings XI Punjab who were chasing a total of 206 to win, got off to a fast start but lost both Sehwag and Pujara when the team score was just 38. Glenn Maxwell and David Miller then came to the center stage and changed the whole complexion of the game as the duo had a partnership of 115 runs in just 10.3 overs. Glenn Maxwell scored 95 off 43 balls (15×4, 2×6) where as David Miller remained unbeaten on 37 ball 54(3×4,3×6) in the thrilling chase and helped the team win by 6 wickets.

Earlier Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a flying start as both the openers Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum added 123 runs in 12.4 overs for the first wicket partnership. Smith scored a brilliant 43 ball 66 with 6 fours and 3 sixes where as McCullum posted 67 off 45 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. The duo laid a solid platform for a high target and the middle order executed it well with all having more than 100 strike rate as they posted a huge 205/4 in 20 overs.
