Chennai Super Kings Innings
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. They got to a good start but eventually kept loosing wickets at regular interval. Only Mathew Hayden was the batsmen who was firm on one end and scored useful 60 runs. Chennai Super Kings other batsmen disappointed and no other batsmen was able to score more than 20 runs. Eventually Chennai Super Kings were all out for 129 in the 20th over.

Chasing a small total of 130 to win, Bangalore Royal Challengers got to a disastrous start and lost quick wickets. Dhoni and his team looked in total control of the match and it looked like they will be successful in defending this small total. But Taylor and Kohli shattered the dreams of Dhoni’s team and brought Bangalore Royal Challengers back in the game. The match was a real thriller and Bangalore Royal Challengers clinched the victory in the last over.

Match 41 – Royal Challengers Bangalore Beat Kolkata Knight Riders By 6 Wickets

Result – Royal Challengers Bangalore Won by 6 Wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders Innings
Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to bat first after they lost the toss to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ganguly and McCullum opened the innings for them and today Kolkata Knight Riders were playing more for the prestige. Ganguly and Gosh got out cheaply but after that it was no seeing back by Kolkata Knight Riders. McCullum was firm on one end and Hussey on the other. Together they scored runs and had a very good partnership. McCullum was the star today for Kolkata Knight Riders as he scored 84 unbeaten runs and helped the team to score a good 173/4 in 20 overs.

But on one end Taylor played a very magical innings and he was the one who kept the hope alive for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Match 38 – Mumbai Indians Won Against Bangalore Royal Challengers By 16 Runs

Mumbai Indians Innings
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost the priced wicket of Sachin Tendulkar and it looked they would be in some trouble. But Jayasurya, Rahane and Duminy played sensational cricket and scored runs with ease. Jayasurya was the second and only wicket which fell and after that Rahane and Duminy cruised the score past 100 in just 14.4 overs. They both remained unbeaten till end and helped Mumbai Indians post a total of 157/2 in 20 overs.

Bangalore Royal Challengers started on a strong note but some quick wickets forced them to be more cautious and it lead to a drop in the run rate. When the strategy break was held after 10 overs, Bangalore Royal Challengers were struggling at 58/4. It needed a heroic innings from some one from Bangalore Royal Challengers but no one could play a match winning innings. Though Boucher raised some hopes but the run rate was way too high. In the end they could manage 141/7 and thus Mumbai Indians won the match by 16 runs.

Bangalore Royal Challengers were invited to bat first by Rajasthan Royals and this decision of Rajasthan Royals proved to be very fruitful as right from the first over, Bangalore Royal Challengers batsmen were very uncomfortable in front of Rajasthan’s bowlers. In the third over, Bangalore Royal Challengers lost the first wicket in form of Jaffer and this started the wicket falling effect. Every batsmen came to center played 1-2 shots and got out. None of the Bangalore Royal Challengers batsmen could cross 20 run mark and this was the main reason they were all out for just 105 runs

After reducing Bangalore for a small total, Rajasthan Royals started off well and scored runs with ease. Smith was the first to get out but not before he scored 20 runs. Ojha on the other end stood to the bowlers and scored a half century and remained unbeaten till end. The chase was really easy and Rajasthan Royals did it with comfortably with 5 overs spare.

Match – 28 Royal Challengers Bangalore Win By 9 Wickets Against Mumbai Indians

Date – May 3, 2009
Result – Royal Challengers Bangalore Win By 9 Wickets

Mumbai Indians Innings
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians decided to bat first and with the opening pair of Sachin and Jayasurya hard hitting was always anticipated. But Tendulkar was out early and soon after Mumbai Indians lost Rahane. Duminy came into the center to join Jayasurya but this time Duminy too failed and Mumbai Indians were 23/3 in 5.2 overs. Bravo and Jayasurya then batted sensibly and took the score past 80 run mark. Both the batsmen completed half centuries and Bravo remained unbeaten till end. In 20 overs, Mumbai Indians could manage 149/4.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Innings
Chasing the target of 150, they got to a very good start. Though Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Jaffer when the team score was 24, but after then it was no looking back. Kallis and Uthapa punished every bowler and smashed bowlers to every corner of the ground. Both completed half centuries and made sure Royal Challengers Bangalore achieve the target comfortably. Royal Challengers Bangalore required 23 runs with 9 wickets in last 4 overs and it looked like a cakewalk. Uthapa and Kallis made sure that Royal Challengers Bangalore Win By 9 Wickets.
