Semi Final-1 Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Today is the first semi final of DLF IPL 2010 between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match is to be played at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai at 8pm today. This is a knockout match i.e. the team which looses will be out of the League. Mumbai captain Sachin Tendulkar is hopeful of the team’s performance and will wish that Mumbai forgets about last match against KKR and get back to the winning streak. Mumbai has played superbly in this season of Indian Premier League and were the first team to qualify for the semi finals. They have won 10 off the 14 matches and are far ahead of all other teams in terms of points, but today none of that matters. Royal Challengers know that on a given day, it can be anyone’s game. RCB has defeated Mumbai earlier in group match and would like to repeat that performance today.

Fans of both teams would be cheering for their teams and would hope that the teams don’t falter at this crucial stage. The man to watch out today from Mumbai will be Sachin Tendulkar who has amazed one and all with his performance in this season. On the other hand Royal Challengers Bangalore have also played excellent cricket in this tournament and would be hoping that today the team effort will once again see them through to the finals.

We have fingers crossed today and lets hope may the best team wins.

Match 52 Mumbai Indians Thrash Royal Challengers By 57 Runs

Match: 52nd T20, IPL3
Venue: Bangalore
Date: April 17, 2010
Toss: Royal Challengers elected to field
Result: Mumbai Indians won by 57 runs
Man of the match: R McLaren

Today, the match was delayed due to a low intensity blast but after a security check, the match started and Mumbai Indians were invited to bat first. They got off to a slow start and lost the priced wicket of Sachin Tendulkar when the score was 34 in 6 overs. A Rayudu and R McLaren then broke the shackles and took the score past 100. A Rayudu played a superb cameo of 46 runs off just 27 balls and gave the necessary acceleration to Mumbai Indians innings. When A Rayudu got out, Pollard came like a storm to score 20 runs off just 7 balls. Kumble got the wicket of Pollard and hoped that this would slow down the run rate but JP Duminy was in no mood to let RCB go so easily. He hammered the bowlers to all corners of the ground and scored 42 not out off just 19 balls. Due to a combined team effort, Mumbai Indians despite a slow start could set a huge score of 191/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 192 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore started off cautiously and scored 30 runs for the first wicket partnership. But once Manish Pandey got out, the wickets started to fell. K Pietersen tried to stabilize the innings but was eventually out for 21. Chasing 193 was never easy and with all the top order batsmen back in pavilion, it became an impossible task for RCB. Virat Kohli did offered some resistance but that too was too little and too late. Eventually RCB lost the match by 57 runs. Mumbai Indians had taken the loss revenge and that too in an emphatic style.

Toss: Rajasthan Royals elected to .
Result: Royal Challengers won by 5 wickets.

Today in the 49th match of DLF IPL, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first. Rajasthan Royals needed to win today to keep semi’s hope alive but they could not get the desired start as they lost M Lumb when the team score was just 16. After that wickets started to fell one after the other and Rajasthan Royals were in deep trouble. A Jhunjhunwala and Watson took the home side to 50 runs in 10th over and soon they both were out adding to the woes. Yusuf Pathan also got out for just 11 and RR were struggling at 72/6 in 13.1 overs and it looked they would have a tough time to reach 100. But a brilliant seventh wicket partnership betweem Abhishek Raut (32 not out) and Adam Voges (28 not out) of 58 runs helped Rajasthan Royals to score a total of 130/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing a small target of 131 to win and make semi final path extremely difficult for Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Jacques Kallis for a duck and it looked Rajasthan would not let them win easily. But K Pieterson was in a total different mood. Right from the first ball, he looked in awesome touch as he hammered the bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals and scored 62 runs off just 29 balls. He along with Uthapa took the team past 100 run mark in the 10.2over. They were in total control of the game but suddenly Rajasthan Royals got 3 quick wickets. But by that time, Bangalore was inches away from a win and finally in the 16th over they scored 132/5 and thus won the match by 5 wickets.
