Match: 52nd T20, IPL3
Venue: Bangalore
Date: April 17, 2010
Toss: Royal Challengers elected to field
Result: Mumbai Indians won by 57 runs
Man of the match: R McLaren
Today, the match was delayed due to a low intensity blast but after a security check, the match started and Mumbai Indians were invited to bat first. They got off to a slow start and lost the priced wicket of Sachin Tendulkar when the score was 34 in 6 overs. A Rayudu and R McLaren then broke the shackles and took the score past 100. A Rayudu played a superb cameo of 46 runs off just 27 balls and gave the necessary acceleration to Mumbai Indians innings. When A Rayudu got out, Pollard came like a storm to score 20 runs off just 7 balls. Kumble got the wicket of Pollard and hoped that this would slow down the run rate but JP Duminy was in no mood to let RCB go so easily. He hammered the bowlers to all corners of the ground and scored 42 not out off just 19 balls. Due to a combined team effort, Mumbai Indians despite a slow start could set a huge score of 191/4 in 20 overs.
Chasing 192 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore started off cautiously and scored 30 runs for the first wicket partnership. But once Manish Pandey got out, the wickets started to fell. K Pietersen tried to stabilize the innings but was eventually out for 21. Chasing 193 was never easy and with all the top order batsmen back in pavilion, it became an impossible task for RCB. Virat Kohli did offered some resistance but that too was too little and too late. Eventually RCB lost the match by 57 runs. Mumbai Indians had taken the loss revenge and that too in an emphatic style.
