Chris Gayle Propels Royal Challengers Bangalore To An Emphatic 8 wicket Win Over Kolkata Knight Riders

Today in the 12th match of IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first. They got the wicket of Manvinder Bisla in the very first over but captain Gambhir and Jacques Kallis then played sensibly and took the score past 50. Jacques Kallis was the next to fall after scoring 16. Yusuf Pathan and Manoj Tiwary chipped in with 27 and 23 respectively but it was captain Gambhir whose 59 off 46 balls (7×4,1×6) helped Kolkata Knight Riders post a total of 154/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 155 to win, RCB lost Mayank Agarwal in the third over when the team score was just 12. But captain Kohli and Chris Gayle then took control and took the team score to 75 before Virat Kohli got out after scoring 35 off 27 balls(4×4,2×6). But Gayle storm once again unleashed as he scored a brilliant 85 off 50 balls (4×4,9×6) and along with AB de Villiers took RCB to an emphatic 8 wicket win.

Today in the 9th match, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Akshath Reddy got out in the third over when the team score was just 12. But Parthiv Patel and Kumar Sangakkara then steadied the innings and took the score past 50. Beaming with confidence, Sunrisers batmen scored some easy runs. Last match hero, Cameron White scored 52 off 34 balls (3×4,3×6) and was brilliantly supported by Thisara Perera who scored 40 off just 24 balls(1×4,4×6). They helped Sunrisers post a decent total of 161/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 162 to win and avenge their super over defeat in the last match, RCB got off to a flying start as Gayle and Mayank Agarwal added 39 runs in 5.1 overs before Mayank Agarwal got out. Sunrisers got a major breakthrough in the 7th over when they got they got the wicket of Chris Gayle. But captain Virat Kohli lead from front and kept the hopes alive. AB de Villiers wicket brought Hyderabad back in the game and the match was poised for an interesting finish. Needing 45 to win off last 5 overs, Kohli slammed every bowler out of ground and and scored 93 runs off 47 balls which included 11 fours and 4 sixes. A superb knock by Kohli ensured 7 wicket win for RCB over Sunrisers Hyderabad

Result – Match Tied (Sunrisers Hyderabad win one-over eliminator)

Today in the 7th match of IPL 2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat first. Sunrisers bowlers could not have given the team a better start as they got rid of the most dangerous IPL player Chris Gayle for just 1. Tillakaratne Dilshan also got out soon leaving RCB at 22/2 in 3.4 overs. Captain Virat Kohli along with Moises Henriques steadied the RCB innings but the duo could not excel the run rate. After the fall of Kohli, RCB could not gain momentum as wickets started to fell at regular intervals. Finally RCB managed to post 130/8 in allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 131 to register their second win in two matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost Parthiv Patel in the second over. Soon Cameron White also got out leaving Sunrisers at 20/2 in 3.3 overs. Akshath Reddy and Hanuma Vihari then took the score to 48 at which Reddy got out leaving Sunrisers at 48/3 8.2 overs. Kumar Sangakkara then came to the center and scored 16 off 17balls before getting out and leaving Sunrisers at 81/4 in 13.4 overs. Hyderabad needed another 50 to win from 38 balls and though wickets kept falling from other end but Hanuma Vihari was firm on one end and his knock of 44 runs off 46 balls ensured that the match ended in a tie.

Super over was played to get the result. Sunrisers batted first and posted a total of 20 thanks to Cameron White’s 2 sixes in the super over. RCB had Gayle and Kohli in the center and despite hitting one six and four, RCB felt short and were able to score just 15 runs.
