Today in the 33 rd match of DLF IPL 2012, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first.N Saini and Mandeep Singh opened the innings and scored 35 runs in 5.2 overs for the first wicket stand. Mumbai Indians bowlers bowled a very tight line and run scoring became very difficult for Kings XI Punjab. Soon Saini also got out leaving KXIP at 46/2 in 7.4 overs. KXIP star batsman Shaun Marsh and Captain D Hussey again had the task in hand to take KXIP to a good total. Shaun Marsh failed in this match and got out after scoring 17 off 26 balls but captain Hussey and D Miller played some exquisite shots to take their team to a healthy total of 168/3 in 20 overs. Captain Hussey remained unbeaten on 68 off 40 balls which inlcuded 4 fours and 4 sixes where as Miller played a cameo of 34 runs off 17 balls which included 1 four and 3 sixes.

Chasing 169 to win, J Franklin and S Tendulkar added 52 runs in 7.5 overs before Franklin got out. Soon Tendulkar also got out after scoring 34 runs. KXIP got another major wicket when they got rid of D Karthik in the 11th over. Rohit Sharma and Pollard then took the team score to 90 when Awana got the wicket of Pollard. A Rayudu and R Sharma then took played superbly to take their team towards the target. Mumbai Indians needed 40 to win off last 3 overs and the match was poised for an interesting finish. Rohit Sharma completed his half centtury with a six of the first ball of Awana’s over but Awana striked back and got the wicket on the next ball and dismissed Harbhajan Singh also in that over. R Peterson and A Rayudu then then scored 27 runs in the 19th over and finally MI needed just 5 run in the final over and they won the match by 4 wickets on the second last ball of the innings.
