A superb bowling performance by Sunrisers Hyderabad especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/14) helped them beat Rajasthan Royals y 32 runs.
Chasing 135 to win, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of Ajinkya Rahane in the very first over for a duck. Steyn then got rid of another openers Karun Nair when Royals score was 27. Rajasthan Royals needed a partnership but Sunrisers bowlers never allowed them to settle. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals thereby adding the pressure on the middle order. Though Sanju Samson and Shane Watson got some start but they could not continue and SRH were were reduced to 41/4 in 6.3 overs. Steven Smith was the highest run scorer for Royals as he could manage just 22 off 33 balls. 18th over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar changed the whole game as three wickets fell and Sunrisers sealed their victory.
Earlier Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field first. Sunrisers Hyderabad opened with Shikar Dhawan and Aaron Finch and they duo gave them a good start by adding 37 runs in 4 overs. Shane Watson came to team’s rescue as he bowled Shikar Dhawan (33 off 20 balls) in the 4th over. Aaron Finch was the next to fall when the team score was 55. With both openers gone, SRH’s scoring rate dropped and wickets started to fell on regular intervals. Lokesh Rahul, David Warner and Naman Ojha fell within the span of 23 balls leaving SRH struggling at 89/5 in 12.5 overs. Shane Watson claimed a hattrick and became the second bowler to do it in this season. A twin blow in the 17th over further decreased the scoring rate but finally Irfan Pathan’s 21 ball 21 helped SRH post 134/9 in 20 overs.
