Even after G Gambhir was run out for just 11, Kallis and M Bisla played superbly and took the score to 70 before Kallis got out after scoring 31 runs off 38 balls. KKR needed 64 to win from last 10 overs and it looked a quite achievable task. M Bisla and Manoj Tiwary then played sensibly and just when it looked that Rajasthan has lost all hopes to win the match, Menaria got the wicket of Bisla, giving a ray of hope to Royals. Soon Manoj Tiwary also got out and the match was all set for an entertaining finish. Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan then took Kolkata Knight Riders inches away from victory. Shakib got out after scoring 16 runs off 10 balls. Yusuf Pathan scored 7 off 7 balls and finally KKR needed just 1 to win in the last over and R Doeschate hit a six to give Kolkata Knight Riders a 5 wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals.

Earlier Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden’s. Royals got off to a good start with both Rahane and Dravid getting good starts. The duo added 45 runs for the first wicket partnership in 6.1 overs before Rahane got out. Rahane’s wickets gave KKR a hope and they launched into all attack mode and got two more wickets. From 45/1 RR slumped to 49/3 in 8.2 overs. This fall of wickets restricted the run flow and even after good starts none of the RR batsmen was able to score runs with ease. KKR bowlers did a splendid job and Shakib Al Hasan was the star for KKR as he got three wicket out of total five fallen wickets. S Goswami 24 off 22 balls and Owais Shah’s 31 off 33 balls helped Rajasthan Royals reach a total of 131/5 in 20 overs.

Today in the 12th match of DLF IPL 2012, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field first against Mumbai Indians. Sachin Tendulkar again missed the match due to finger injury, R Levi and T Suman opened the innings for MI and the duo scored 28 in 3.3 overs for the first wicket partnership. R Levi and Rohit Sharma then smashed bowlers to all corners and just when the partnership was getting dangerous for Royals, Hodge bowled Rohit Sharma when the team score was 59. Soon Levi was also bowled by Hodge and MI were 68/3 in 8.2 overs. A Rayudu and K Pollard then took the charge and scored runs with ease. Both of them hammered Rajasthan bowlers, Pollard was particularly severe on them as he scored 64 runs off 33 balls (6×4 4×6) before getting out. A Rayudu 47 not out off 32 balls (1×4 3×6) took from where Pollard left and he along with Harbhajan Singh (18 not out off 6 balls (1×4 2×6) propelled MI score to 197/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 198 to win, Royals lost two quick wickets i.e. R Dravid and S Goswami in the second over of the innings when the team score was just 7. At 7/2, they needed a solid partnership and A Rahane and Owais Shah played sensible cricket and took the team score to 89 before A Rahane got out after scoring 40 off 31 balls (4×4 2×6). Needing another 108 runs to win in 52 balls, Owais Shah stepped the peddle as he smashed MI bowlers to all corners of the ground. But once again it was Lasith Malinga who came to the rescue of MI as he bowled Owais Shah (76runs off 42 balls, 5×4, 5×6) and got the wicket of J Botha in the same over. RR were struggling at 136/5 in 14.4 overs and needed 62 runs in 32 balls. Though A Menaria and K Cooper hit few boundaries to match the required rate but it was out of their reach and finally Royals tasted their first defeat in IPL 2012 as they were bundled for 170 in 19.4 overs.
