Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane gave them the perfect start as the duo added 62 runs in 7.2 overs before Watson got out. But this did not deter Ajinkya Rahane who continued to play his shots. He and Dishant Yagnik then took the score past 100 and laid a solid platform for a huge total. Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten on 68 off 54 balls which included 8 fours and 1 six. A cameo of 27 in 15 balls by Brad Hodge helped them post a total of 179/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 180 to win, Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting once again failed to give Mumbai a good start and both of them were out when the team score was 10. Today in the 18th match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Royal won the toss and elected to field first. Kings XI Punjab got off to a disastrous start as they lost three main batsmen when the team score was just 10. Struggling at 10/3 in 3.3 overs, Kings XI Punjab desperately needed some to stand and deliver. David Hussey once again came to the team’s rescue as even when wickets kept falling at other end, he scored a brilliant 31 ball 41. Azhar Mahmood’s 23 was the second highest score by KXIP batsmen as Royal bowlers never allowed KXIP to settle. Finally KXIP were all out for 124 in 18.5 overs.

Chasing 125 to win, Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane gave them a flying start as the duo added 43 runs for the first wicket stand.
