Today in the 27th match of DLF IPL 2012, Pune Warriors got a superb 20 run victory over Delhi Daredevils thanks to superb all round performance by Saurav Ganguly and fine batting display by J Ryder and Smith.

Earlier, Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field first. R Uthappa and J Ryder opened the innings for Pune but Delhi got their first breakthrough in the 4th over when they got the wicket of R Uthappa. S Ganguly was the next to come in and he along with J Ryder played superbly and the duo added 93 runs for the second wicket partnership. Ryder scored a brilliant 86 off 58 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes while Ganguly scored 41 off 35 balls with five fours and a six. In the end overs, it was Smith’s cameo of 34 runs off 13 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes which helped Pune post a good total of 192/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 193 to win, Delhi lost M Jayawardene in the third over leaving them at 12/1. But Virender Sehwag and last match star K Pietersen played some good cricket to take the team score to 87 before Pietersen got out after scoring 32 off 23 balls. Irfan Pathan was promoted up the order to tackle the rapidly increasing run rate but this did not worked in Delhi’s favor as he also got out after scoring just 15. V Sehwag was the next to get out after scoring a brilliant 57 off 32 balls. This wicket gave Pune a ray of hope to come back into the match and they made the most of it restricting Delhi to 172/7 in 20 overs and thus registering a thumping win.

Chennai Super Kings superb batting and bowling helped them take revenge of the loss they suffered at the hands of Pune Warriors in the previous match. Though at one stage the match looked even for both teams but Chennai team pulled it back with their superb bowling and fielding.

Today in the 24th match of DLF IPL 2012, Pune Warriors won the toss and elected to field first. CSK openers F du Plessis (58 runs 48 balls 4×4, 2×6) and S Badrinath (57 runs 48 balls 8×4, 0x6) gave them a flying start and added 116 runs for the first wicket partnership. In the 16th over, Samuels got both the wickets but a solid platform was being laid for the coming batsmen. Though Raina was out for a duck but MS Dhoni’s 12 ball 28 helped Chennai Super Kings post a total of 164/5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 165 to win and create another upset in IPL, Pune Warriors suffered a major blow when R Uthappa got out in the second over when the team score was just 13. Soon another breakthrough was provided to CSK as J Ryder got out leaving Pune struggling at 26/2 in 3.4 overs. M Pandey and Ganguly then took the team score past 50 but D Bravo got the wicket of Pandey on the very first ball of seventh over leaving Pune at 53/3 in 6.1 overs. S Ganguly who scored 24 off 26 balls was the next to fell and Pune were struggling at 64/4 in 9.4 overs. Needing 101 to win off 62 balls, Samuels scored a 21 balls 26 before getting out and leaving Pune at 97/5 in 13.2 overs. S Smith and A Mathews then took the team closer towards the target but with the wicket of S Smith in the 19th over, it was almost all over for Pune. Pune needed 21 to win in the last over but A Mathews was bowled on the very first ball and thus Pune failed to achieve the target and lost the match by 13 runs.
