Finally Deccan chargers were able to register their first IPL 2012 win as they defeated Pune Warriors by 18 runs, thanks to the superb batting performance by C White which helped DC post a total of 177/4 in 20 overs.

Parthiv Patel and S Dhawan gave them a flying start before Dhawan was run out when the team score was 39. Ganguly and R Uthappa then carried the Pune innings forward and just when it looked the duo is all set, S Ganguly lost his wicket when the team score was 73. At 73/3 in 9.5 overs, Pune needed a partnership but the wickets of R Uthappa and M Samuels felt in quick succession. From 73/3 Pune were struggling at 91/5 in 14 overs. Pune Needed 86 to win from last 6 overs and S Smith scored a quick fire 26 followed by good batting by Manhas and Thomas but the target was too far from the reach and thus Pune lost the match by 18 runs.

A brilliant knock by Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag and superb bowling helped Delhi beat Pune by 8 wickets.

Today in the 31st match of IPL Season 5, Pune Warriors elected to bat first after winning the toss J Ryder and M Pandey opened the innings for Pune but J Ryder got out on the second ball of the match for a duck. Soon captain Ganguly also got out leaving Pune struggling at 1/2 in 1.2 overs. M Pandey along with R Uthappa then steadied the Pune inning as the duo added 145 runs. M Pandey remained unbeaten on 80 off 56 balls (7×4,3×6) where as R Uthappa remained unbeaten on 60 off 58 balls (6×4). Finally Pune was able to post 146/2 in 20 overs.

Chasing 147 to win, Delhi started the innings with Jayawardene and Sehwag. The duo added 22 runs in just 1.5 overs befor Jayawardene got out. But this did not deter Sehwag and K Pietersen who continued to play strokes and score easy runs. They added 89 runs and took Delhi closer to victory. Sehwag played a captains knock and scored 87 off 48 balls to take Delhi to a convincing 8 wicket win.
