In a severe jolt to Pune Warriors, Australian captain Michael Clarke has been ruled out of IPL 2013 after failing to recover from his back injury. Clarke who was purchased by PWI for $400,000 was expected to lead the team in this season.
Michael Clarke who missed the fourth test against India after suffering from a back injury and a hamstring injury was forced to return home during the Delhi Test.
Cricket Australia confirmed that it will take atleast 7-10 weeks before Clarke will be able to play again.
Pune Warriors have signed up with Ishwar Pandey, the highest wicket taker in Ranji trophy. Pandey who bagged 48 wickets in 8 games and plays for Madhya Pradesh will be hoping to continue his good run in IPL so as to make way for getting in Indian Cricket team.
“I am happy that my consistent performance has been rewarded. My focus will be to do well for the Pune Warriors and cement my place in the playing XI. For an upcoming cricketer like me, IPL is the kind of exposure that will help me understand the rigours of top-flight cricket,” Pandey told PTI
