Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Brendon McCullum’s name is now doing the rounds as the new skipper of the IPL team co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan.

The Black Caps vice-captain, who caught the imagination of the Indian public with a belligerent 73-ball-158 against Team Bangalore in the IPL opener last season, is someone who is favoured by chief coach John Buchanan and perhaps, more significantly, by Shah Rukh as well.

If sources close to the team are to be believed, Buchanan is not too happy with Ganguly’s level of fitness and is actually apprehensive over the Indian captain’s chances of sustaining the rigours of a full-blown tournament in the T20 version. Dada is a few months short of turning 37.

McCullum, in contrast, is 27 and one of the fittest cricketers around. He is also on the top of his game, as the Indian team in New Zealand is discovering. “John is not a malicious person, he has no personal grudge against Sourav,” a source said.

ISLAMABAD: Renowned Indian actor Shahrukh Khan has inked agreement with Young Pakistani All-rounder Yasir Arafat to represent Kolkata Knight Rider in next season of Indian Premier League (IPL) while Pakistan Cricket Board has also shown green signal to Yasir Arafat in this respect.

Sources closed to Yasir Arfat told this agency, Indian famous actor Mr. Khan held telephonic talks with Young Pakistani All-rounder Yasir Arafat followed by his superb performance in the county cricket. Shahrukh Khan also invited Yasir Arafat to represent his team named “Kolkata Knight Rider” in next cricket season of Indian Premier league (IPL) and also sent a representative to finalize modalities of the agreement.Yasir Arafat, who represented Pakistan in one test and 8 ODIs matches, followed by insist of Shahrukh Khan has agreed to ink agreement and said he has no reservation to play in next season of Indian premier league on behalf of Kolkata Knight Rider, however, he said, he would take green signal from Pakistan Cricket Board in this respect.

The management team of Kolkata Knight Rider also contacted relevant authorities of PCB and discussed views to take services of Yasir Arafat.PCB has also shown green signal to Yasir Arafat. It is merit mentioning here that Pakistani All-Rounder Yasir Arafat took 7 wickets in one test match and made 44 runs, 4 wickets in 8 ODIs by making 48 runs and 551 wickets by making 4914 in 136 first class matches.

Kolkata Knight Riders recorded a sensational win in which Ganguly scored the highest 86 to beat Kings XI Punjab[ 174/6 ] by three wickets.This was the last match of Knight Riders and they ended it with style by defeating Kings XI who are at 2nd spot in the table. Ganguly was the star in the win and scored an unbeaten 86 runs which included 6 sixes and 6 fours. Umar Gul also had a super match and got 4 wickets first and then scored 24 runs in just 11 balls. Due to this effort he was given man of the match award.
