In yet another combination of poor performance and bad luck, Delhi Daredevils lost to Sunriser Hyderabad by 8 wickets (D/L Method) and are now almost out of the league as they suffered 7 defeats in 9 matches. In a rain curtailed match, Sunrisers needed 43 to win from 5 overs and they achieved the target in 4.2 overs by losing two wickets

Earlier Sunrisers won the toss and elected to field first. Delhi opened with Quinton de Kock and Captain Kevin Pieterson. Though they lost Quinton de Kock early but all other top order batmen contributed with bat. Just when Delhi looked on coarse to set a high total, Dale Steyn and Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned the match with some fierce bowling. Delhi could manage just 22 runs in last 5 overs and thus were able to post 143/7 in 20 overs.

A superb batting performance by Kolkata Knight Riders helped them beat Delhi Daredevils by 8 wickets today at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground.

Chasing 161 to win, KKR got off to a flying start with both openers Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa adding 106 runs in 11.5 overs for the first wicket stand. Robin Uthappa was the the first to fall after scoring 47 off 34 balls but a foundation was laid for a easy run chase. Captain Gambhir and Manish Pandey (23 off 14 balls) then took the score past 150. Gambhir completed his well deserved half century and played a vital role in today’s win. He was unlucky to get out in the 18th over as he could not score the winnings runs but his 56 ball 69 made sure KKR win the match comfortably.

Earlier Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost Quinton de Kock when the team score was just 14. Captain Kevin Pietersen failed again as he was run out for just 6. Delhi were struggling at 26/2 in 5.3 overs. Murli Vijay and Dinesh Karthik hen played sensibly and took the score past 50. KKR bowlers bowled superbly and never allowed the Delhi batsmen to free their hands till JP Duminy and Kedhar Jadav got into action. A cameo of 40 in 28 balls by JP Duminy and 15 ball 26 by Kedhar Jadhav helped Delhi post a total of 160/5 in 20 overs.

Chennai Super Kings continued their good run and thrashed Delhi Daredevils today by 8 wickets to maintain their number one spot in points table.

Chasing 179 to win, CSK got off to a flying start with openers Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum adding 82 runs for the first wicket partnership. Brendon McCullum was the first to fall after scoring 35 ball 32 when the team score was 82. But his wicket proved to be a blessing in disguise for CSK as Suresh Raina came to the crease and he lifted the scoring rate. He played delicately but scored 47 off 27 balls which included 6 fours and 1 six. On the other hand, Dwayne Smith was brutal in his attack and hit 8 sixes and 4 fours in his 51 ball 79. He got out in the 19th over but by the time he had done his job. Needing 11 to win off the last over, Captain Dhoni hit a six and a four to take his team to a comfortable 8 wicket win.

Earlier Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. Delhi Daredevils got off to a decent start with openers adding 36 runs in 4 overs before Quinton de Kock was run out. In the same over captain Kevin Pietersen was bowled by Mohit Sharma but then Dinesh Karthik and Quinton de Kock steadied Delhi innings and took the score past 100. Dinesh Karthik completed his 50 and was the next to fall after scoring 51 off 36 balls. A cameo of 28 by JP Duminy and 29 by Kedar Jadhav helped Delhi post a decent total of 178/5 in 20 overs.
