Venue: Ahmedabad
Date: March 28, 2010
Toss: Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first.
Result: Rajasthan Royals won by 17 runs

After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals decided to bat first and they got to a flying start with M Lumb and N Ojha. They zoomed to 47 in just 4 overs before they lost the first wicket in form of M Lumb. But N Ojha was at his best today and hammered the ball to all sides of the park. Though the middle order could not contribute significantly but N Ojha acted as a star for Rajasthan Royals and took the team to 177/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 178 to win, Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings could not get the desired start as they lost Hayden when the team score was 24. M Vijay and S Raina then tried to steady the innings but the required run rate was increasing with the passage of each over. Shane Warne came to bowl and get rid of Raina. Chennai Super Kings were expecting a good performance from M Vijay and Dhoni but both of them got run out, thanks to some excellent fielding by Rajasthan Royals. Chennai Super Kings were 123/4 in 15.4 overs with the required rate hovering at 12.69 per over.Though Morkel tried to change the equation of the game with 3 sixes but the required rate was way too high (17.68) for CSK and in the last over Chennai Super Kings needed 22 runs but they could manage only 160/6 in 20 overs and thus lost the match by 17 runs.

Match: 21st T20, IPL 3
Venue: Mumbai | Date: March 25, 2010
Toss: Mumbai Indians elected to field
Result: Mumbai Indians won by 5 wickets

In the 21st match of Indian Premier League 2010, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. This decision looked good as they got two priced wickets of Parthiv Patel and Mathew Hayden and reduced Chennai Super Kings to 38/2 in 5 overs. But then Suresh Raina and Badrinath played superbly and got into an excellent partnership which took the score to 180/2 in 20 overs. Raina who handed over the captaincy to Dhoni in today’s match was at its very best and was hitting fours and sixes at will. He scored 83 runs off just 52 balls(4*7,3*6) and was fully supported by Badrinath who scored 55(4*6) of just 45 balls.

Mumbai Indians had to chase 180 to win this match and they started off really well with Sachin and Shikhar Dhawan. They both scored at more than 10 runs per over. Shikhar Dhawan got out after scoring a well deserved 50. Mumbai Indians were placed comfortably at 92/1 in 8.5 overs. Though the middle order failed and team was reduced to 159/4 but Sachin Tendulkar was firm on one end and took the team to victory . It was once again a superb captain knock by Tendulkar ( 72 runs 52 balls 4*8,6*1) which ensured Mumbai Indians victory over Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets.
