Chennai opened with Wriddhiman Saha and Michael Hussey and the duo gave them a perfect start as they added 103 in 10 overs for the first wicket partnership. Saha got out after scoring 39 off 23 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. But Michael Hussey continued the onslaught and was joined by Suresh Raina who smashed 44 in 25 balls (4×4,1×6).
