Match – 24 Bangalore Royal Challengers Defeated Kings XI Punjab By 8 Runs

Result – Bangalore Royal Challengers won by 8 runs

Bangalore Royal Challengers Innings
Bangalore Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost Ryder were early in the innings but the scoring rate was good. The wickets fell at regular interval but each batsmen did contributed to the team score. Yuvraj Singh took a hattrick and it looked that Bangalore Royal Challengers would not be able to score even 100 in this match. But Kohli and Merve made sure that the team posts a decent score and at the end of innings they scored 145/9 in 20 overs.

Kings XI Punjab Innings
Kings XI Punjab got to a flying start with Yuvraj Singh and Goel scoring the runs freely. They both scored 70 runs in 9.5 overs at which Yuvraj got out. Kings XI Punjab looked in total control of the match right through the innings. But Bangalore Royal Challengers came good when it mattered the most.They bowled three tight overs and KIngs XI Punjab needed 13 off the last over which was bowled by Kumar. Kings XI Punjab just could not manage 13 runs in the last over and lost the match by 8 runs

Match 19 – Kolkata Knight Riders vs Bangalore Royal Challengers

Date – Apr 29, 2009
Result – Bangalore Royal Challengers win by 5 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders Innings
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first.They could not have got more disastrous start as they lost McCullum for a golden duck. Hodge and Gayle then took the score to 45 when Hodge became the victim of Kumble. Even Gayle could not play as freely as he always does but still managed 40 runs in 37 balls. Ganguly failed once and scored just 1 run, leaving his fans disappointed. M van Wyk and Saha then played and duo helped Kolkata Knight Riders cross the 100 run mark. In the end it was a total well shot of what was expected and Kolkata Knight Riders managed 139/6 in 20 overs.

Bangalore Royal Challengers Innings
Bangalore Royal Challengers got off to a very good start and scored 50 runs without the loss of any wicket. Chasing a modest target of 140, they looked pretty comfortable right from the first over.Goswami was the first to get out when the team score was 69, soon Kallis also got out and Bangalore Royal Challengers were 77/2 in 12.4 overs. Kohli and Pieterson then got some starts but were sent back by Hodge in the same over. Bangalore Royal Challengers required 33 more runs with 6 wickets in hand in remaining 4 overs. Merve got out after scoring just 9 runs. The match became quite interesting as Bangalore Royal Challengers needed 10 runs in the last over. Boucher as many times before was the savior for Bangalore Royal Challengers and scored the required runs to win the match.

Match 14 – Bangalore Royal Challengers v Delhi Daredevils

Date – Apr 26, 2009

Result: Delhi won by 6 wkts

Bangalore Royal Challengers
Bangalore Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bat first. But the decision proved to be disastrous as they lost two wickets for just 10 runs on board. Then Pietersen and Taylor took the score to 72 in almost 9 overs. When things looked in control, Vettori struck and got Pietersen wicket. Soon Taylor was also sent back to pavilion and the score was 78/4 in 11 overs. Kohli and Boucher then steadied the innings and took the score past 100. Royal Challengers then saw a quick fall of wickets to get a total score of 149 in alloted 20 overs.

Delhi Daredevils Innings
The fireworks from Tillekeratne Dilshan (67 runs in 47 balls, 5×4, 2×6) helped Delhi Daredevils beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the Indian Premier League match in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.After loosing initial wicket of Sehwag, Delhi Daredevils got back on track and won the match. After this win, they now share the number 1 spot with Deccan Chargers

Kings XI Beat Royal Challengers

Date – 24 April 2009
In an encounter between Kings Punjab and Bangalore Royal Challengers, Preity Zinta’s man routed Mallaya’s Challengers and won the match comfortably by 7 wickets. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat and posted a good competitive total of 169 for winning the match. Kings XI opener gave them a solid start and Bopara scored 85 runs of just 59 balls. All batsmen of top order contributed and had strike rate equal to or greater than 100. In the end it was a cakewalk for Kings XI and they won the match in style by hitting 6 and reaching 173/3 in 19 overs.

Preity Zinta was seen very happy with the team performance.

Deccan Chargers Defeat Banglore Royal Challengers By 24 Runs

Date – 22 April 2009

Deccan Chargers are now at Number 1 position in IPL Standings by registering a 24 runs win over Banglore Royal Challengers. Skipper Gilchrist won the toss and elected to bat first. Former Australian wicket-keeper explosive batsman Gilchrist entertain the crowd with his superb performance. He scored 71 runs from 45 balls including 4 fours and 5 huge sixes. Praveen Kumar provide first breakthrough by dismissing opener Gibbs. After that it was a wonderful performance from Rohit Sharma. He hit three huge sixes in Kumble’s over. Rohit Sharma manage to complete his half century and was out for a score of 52 runs in 30 balls. Deccan Chargers put a total of 184/6 in 20 overs. In reply, RC opener was cleaned bowled from pacer F.Edwards on first ball of the match. Only Dravid (48) and V.Kohli (50) score runs Royal Challengers Banglore manage to score 160/8 in 20 overs
