Today in the 11th match of Pepsi IPL 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to bat first by RCB. The decision of RCB showed instant result as KKR captain Gautam Gambhir was out for a duck when the team score was just 1. Manish Pandey was the next to fall leaving KKR struggling at 10/2 in 1.2 overs. J Kallis and Chris Lynn then got into a good partnership and took the team score to 90 in 11.3 overs but then a double strike by Aaron left KKR struggling at 90/4 in 11.5 overs. Soon Kallis also got out and the team started to look a bit shaky. Finally KKR managed to post a total of 150/7 in their respective 20 overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore needed 151 to win their third consecutive match and their openers gave them a perfect start. Parthiv Patel and Yogesh Takawale added 67 runs for the first wicket stand. Both the openers got out when the team score was 67 which brought Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli on to the crease. The duo played with ease and took the score past 100. Virat Kohli scored 31 before being bowled by a beauty from S Narine. Soon Yuvraj too got out after 31 and the match was very interestingly poised as RCB needed 9 off the last over. A Morkel and AB de Villers then needed to take their team towards victory but a stunning catch by Lynn sent AB de Villers back and RCB still needed 6 to win off 2 balls. Morkel too 2 off the penultimate ball and thus RCB needed 4 to win off the last ball. A Morkel then failed to score the boundary and thus Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 2 Runs

Due to superb batting and temperament display by Parthiv Patel and AB de Villiers, RCB pulled from shambles to win the match comfortably by 7 wickets. Earlier three wickets of RCB fell within the span of 1 run and it looked that with the departure of Virat Kohli and Yuvraj, it would be a easy win for MUmbai but Parthiv Patel and AB de Villiers had a unbeaten partnership which lead to the second defeat of Mumbai in as many matches.

Earlier Mumbai was invited to bat by RCB and they got a decent start with the team posting 52/2 in 6.5 overs. Once Aditya Tare got out, the entire team started to fall into bits and pieces as from 52/2 they were reduced to 70/4 in 11.2 overs. Ambati Rayudu and Corey Anderson then showed some hope but in the 17th over they both got out and eventually Mumbai were able to post a total of 115/9 in 20 overs.

Today in the second match of IPL 2014, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first againt Delhi Daredevils. Delhi who were playing without their captain Pieterson were off to a disastrous start as they lost three quick wickets and were reduced to 17/3 in 4.1 overs. Murli Vijay and Jean-Paul Duminy then took the score to 35 when Vijay also got out leaving DD struggling at 35/4 in 7.1 overs. But this brought Ross Taylor who then with Duminy helped in reviving Delhi Daredevils The duo played superbly and remained unbeaten till end. It was due to Duminy’s 48 ball 67 (4×4, 3×6) and Taylor’s 39 ball 43 (4×4) that Delhi managed to post a decent total of 145/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 146 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Nic Maddinson in the second over when the team score was just 6 but Parthiv Patel and captain Virat Kohli then played superbly to take the team score past 50. Patel was the next to fall after scoring 28 ball 37 (5×4, 1×6)as he was bowled by Rahul Sharma when the team score was 62. But Captain Kohli and Yuvraj Singh then played superbly and hammered every bowler. Yuvraj was at its devastating best as he scored 52 off 29 balls which included 3 fours and 5 sixes to take RCB to a comfortable 8 wicket win.
