Chennai Super Kings ended their league stage on a positive note today as they defeated RCB by 8 wickets to finish second in points table.
Chasing 155 to win, Chennai Super Kings got off to a flying start with Dwayne Smith and Faf du Plessis adding 57 runs in 4.2 overs for the first wicket stand. Earlier Chennai won the toss and invited RCB to bat. Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a poor start as they lost opener Rilee Rossouw on the fifth ball of the innings when the team score was just 2. Yogesh Takawale and Vijay Zol also fell cheaply and RCB were struggling at 33/3 in 5.4 overs. Captain Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh then steadied the innings and added 55 runs in 8.2 overs. Kohli played superbly for his 49 ball 73 and helped RCB post a total of 154/6 in 20 overs.

Today in the 53rd match of Pepsi IPL 2014 Royal Challengers Bangalore will take om Chennai Super Kings at 4 pm Indian Standard Time.
Royal Challengers Bangalore who are already out of this season’s playoff race as they lost 8 matches will playing for pride. RCB who started the season with a bang with back to back wins have failed to click together as a team. When their batting fires, bowlers fail to defend and when bowlers do well, they are not supported well by batsmen.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings who are sitting at number 2 spot in points table have already qualified for the playoffs but they have lost three matches in a row and would now be hoping to get back their winning momentum so that the team advances to the next stage with a much needed confidence
