Mumbai Indians will take on Pune Warriors today at the Wankhede at 4pm IST in the third match of DLF IPL 2012. Mumbai who are high on confidence after beating CSK in the first match will look to continue the winning streak where as Pune with Saurav as captain will be looking to start the IPL campaign on a high end and prove to his critics that he is still the best when it comes to cricket.

Delhi Daredevils Beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 Wickets

Match: IPL Match 2 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils
Venue: Eden Garden

Toss: Delhi Daredevils elected to field
Match reduced to 12 overs per side due to rain
Result – Delhi Daredevils Beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 Wickets

In the second match of DLF IPL, it looked that the game will be washed due to heavy rains but the rain god showed some mercy and the game was limited to 12 overs each.

Chasing 98 to win the match, Delhi Daredevils started superbly with both openers A Finch and Virender Sehwag. Both scored runs with ease and took the score to 49 in just 6.2 overs before A Finch got out. Soon Sehwag also got out but Irfan Pathan was not deterred by Sehwag’s wicket. He played a superb cameo of 42 runs in just 20 balls which included 3×6 and 2×4. Delhi required 11 runs off last 2 overs and they won the match by 8 wickets in 11.1overs.

Earlier Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field first and their decision proved right as they got 3 quick wickets, Morkel took two wickets in a row leaving KKR tottering at 20/3 in 2.5 overs. Captain Gambhir was seeing wickets falling at other end as Yusuf Pathan also got out for a duck leaving KKR at 31/4 in 4 overs. Gambhir and Dass then took the team score to 54 before both got out on consecutive balls leaving KKR at 55/6 in 6.5 overs. Laxmi Shukla then took the charge and scored quickfire 26 runs off just 17 balls taking KKR to a total of 97/9 in 12 overs.

Match 2 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils Delayed Because of Rain

Finally the match will start at 10.30pm and it will be a 12 overs game. Delhi Daredevils have won the toss.

Update: Rain has stopped and covers are being taken off. Inspection scheduled at 10 pm.

The second match of IPL 2012 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils has been delayed due to a mild thunderstorm and heavy showers

At 7.30pm, the showers started lightly but after some time, heavy rains covered the Eden Garden Stadium and thus keeping spectators guessing about the future of match.

“One can expect more thundershowers with an occasional squall towards late afternoon or evening till the weekend,” said a IMD official.

Match had not started till reports last came in and we will keep you updated with latest match scores.

Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 8 Wickets

Venue – MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai
Toss – Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field
Result – Mumbai Indians won by 8 wickets
Man of the Match – R Levi

Mumbai Indians scored a well deserved victory against Chennai Super Kings in the first match of DLF IPL 2012. Chasing a target of 113 in 20 overs, Harbhajan Singh lead Mumbai Indians started on a brilliant note and showed how easy wicket it was to bat on. Sachin Tendulkar and R Levi put on 69 runs partnership for the first wicket. Levi completed his well deserved 50 (34 balls (6 x 4, 3 x 6) before getting out. R Sharma came to bat but was out for a duck giving a ray of hope to CSK. Sachin was then retired hurt but this did not deter Mumbai Indian players A Rayudu (18 off 18 balls not out) and J Franklin (25 off 30 balls not out) who played cautiously and took the team to a 8 wicket victory.

Earlier, it was Mumbai Indians who won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was fruitful as they got the wicket of F du Plessis in the very first over. M Vijay and S. Raina then got into a solid partnership and it looked they will help CSK post a decent target. But J Franklin got the wicket of M Vijay. This brought Dwayne Bravo on the crease and together with Raina he took the score to 75 when Ojha got the priced wicket of Suresh Raina. This wicket triggered the fall of wickets and one after another a solid looking batting lineup fell like heap of cards. CSk were all out for 112 in 19.5 overs.
