Mumbai Indians scored a well deserved victory against Chennai Super Kings in the first match of DLF IPL 2012. Chasing a target of 113 in 20 overs, Harbhajan Singh lead Mumbai Indians started on a brilliant note and showed how easy wicket it was to bat on. Sachin Tendulkar and R Levi put on 69 runs partnership for the first wicket. Levi completed his well deserved 50 (34 balls (6 x 4, 3 x 6) before getting out. R Sharma came to bat but was out for a duck giving a ray of hope to CSK. Sachin was then retired hurt but this did not deter Mumbai Indian players A Rayudu (18 off 18 balls not out) and J Franklin (25 off 30 balls not out) who played cautiously and took the team to a 8 wicket victory.
Earlier, it was Mumbai Indians who won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was fruitful as they got the wicket of F du Plessis in the very first over. M Vijay and S. Raina then got into a solid partnership and it looked they will help CSK post a decent target. But J Franklin got the wicket of M Vijay. This brought Dwayne Bravo on the crease and together with Raina he took the score to 75 when Ojha got the priced wicket of Suresh Raina. This wicket triggered the fall of wickets and one after another a solid looking batting lineup fell like heap of cards. CSk were all out for 112 in 19.5 overs.
