Today Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Pune Warriors in the 16th Match of DLF IPL 2012. Chennai Super Kings who chased down 206 in their last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore will be booming with confidence and will go all guns blazing today against Pune Warriors who lost their last match against Kings XI Punjab. Also as per previous meetings between these two teams, Pune Warriors are still looking for their first win against Chennai Super Kings.

Pune on the other hand have won two out of three games played so far and are thus capable of creating an upset today against CSK just as they did against Mumbai Indians.

Result – Kolkata Knight Riders won by 5 wickets

Today in the 15th match of DLF IPL 2012, Kolkata Knight Rider needed 132 to win against Rajasthan Royals. Even after G Gambhir was run out for just 11, Kallis and M Bisla played superbly and took the score to 70 before Kallis got out after scoring 31 runs off 38 balls. KKR needed 64 to win from last 10 overs and it looked a quite achievable task. M Bisla and Manoj Tiwary then played sensibly and just when it looked that Rajasthan has lost all hopes to win the match, Menaria got the wicket of Bisla, giving a ray of hope to Royals. Soon Manoj Tiwary also got out and the match was all set for an entertaining finish. Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan then took Kolkata Knight Riders inches away from victory. Shakib got out after scoring 16 runs off 10 balls. Yusuf Pathan scored 7 off 7 balls and finally KKR needed just 1 to win in the last over and R Doeschate hit a six to give Kolkata Knight Riders a 5 wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals.

Earlier Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden’s. Royals got off to a good start with both Rahane and Dravid getting good starts. The duo added 45 runs for the first wicket partnership in 6.1 overs before Rahane got out. Rahane’s wickets gave KKR a hope and they launched into all attack mode and got two more wickets. From 45/1 RR slumped to 49/3 in 8.2 overs. This fall of wickets restricted the run flow and even after good starts none of the RR batsmen was able to score runs with ease. KKR bowlers did a splendid job and Shakib Al Hasan was the star for KKR as he got three wicket out of total five fallen wickets. S Goswami 24 off 22 balls and Owais Shah’s 31 off 33 balls helped Rajasthan Royals reach a total of 131/5 in 20 overs.

Match 14 IPL 2012 Kings XI Punjab vs Pune Warriors Result

Result – Kings XI Punjab won by 7 wickets

Pune tasted their first defeat in IPL 2012 as S Marsh and D Mascarenhas played exceptional cricket to give the much needed victory to Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2012.

Earlier in the 14th match of DLF IPL 2012, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field first. The decision proved fruitful to KXIP as they got the first breakthrough when J Ryder was run out by Hussey. At 13/1 in 2.2 overs, Pune needed a partnership but superb bowling by D Mascarenhas never allowed any Pune batsmen to settle. He took 5 wickets and gave away just 25 runs in 4 overs. M Manhas was the top scorer for Pune with 31 runs but Pune batsmen never ever got into any good partnership and were eventually bowled out for 115 in 19 overs.

Chasing 116 to win and open the account in points tally, Kings XI Punjab lost P Valthaty on the very first ball of the innings but A Gilchrist and S Marsh then played sensible cricket and took the score to 50 before Gilchrist got out. The duo added 50 runs for the second wicket partnership and laid a solid platform for the coming batsmen. The fall of Gilchrist lowered the run rate but the required rate was still manageable. M Singh got out after scoring jut 10 runs leaving KXIP at 70/3 in 11.4 overs. 46 more runs were needed in 50 balls and it looked like an easy victory for KXIP. Shaun Marsh played brilliant cricket and stood firm on one end. His brilliant 64 off 54 balls helped KXIP register their first win and that too convincingly by 7 wickets.

Match 13 IPL 2012 Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Result

Result – Chennai Super Kings won by 5 wickets

Today in the 13th match of DLF IPL 2012, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat first. M Agarwal and C Gayle opened the innings for RCB. M Agarwal went after CSK bowlers right from first over and scored 45 in just 26 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes before getting out. The duo scored 53 runs in 5.2 overs for the first wicket partnership. After Agarwal’s wicket, Gayle and V Kohli played superbly and maintained a healthy run rate. RCB were comfortably placed at 96/1 in 10 overs. Chris Gayle then took the charge and unleashed himself and scored the fastest fifty of IPL 2012. Virat Kohli and Gayle added 109 runs in just 66 balls for the second wicket partnership before Gayle got out after scoring 68 runs in 35 balls (2×4,6×6). RCB were comfortably placed at 162/2 in 16.2 overs, with 22 balls remaining, RCB were eying 200. V Kohli then completed his first half century of IPL 2012 and scored 57 off 46 balls with (5×4,2×6). Four wickets in the last over slowed RCB’s run rate but still they were able to post a good total of 205/8 runs in 20 overs.

CSK had to chase a mammoth total of 206 and needed a solid start, the openers M Vijay and F du Plessis gave them a good start with a 56 run first wicket partnership. M Vijay was the first to got out but F du Plessis and S Raina then took the team score to 88 before Raina got out. F du Plessis stood firm on one end and scored 71 off 46 balls which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. CSK were 128/3 in 14.3 overs and needed a special innings from some one to achieve victory. From last 5 overs, CSK needed 75 and MS Dhoni and D Bravo played superbly . After the wicket of MS Dhoni (40 runs off 24 balls 1×4,2×6) Albie Morkel came to crease and smashed RCB bowlers. His cameo of 28 runs off 7 balls which included (2×4 3×6) took the match to a nail-biting finish as CSK needed 15 off last over. V Kumar was asked to bowl the last over and he got the wicket of dangerous Morkel. R Jadega was the next batsmen for CSK, D Bravo hit a four on a no ball and six on the next. CSK needed 2 to win from the last bowl and Jadega hit a four on the last bowl to take Chennai to victory by 5 wickets.
