Auctions for IPL Season 6 will be held at either Chennai or Kolkata, in January 2013. Some sources stated that most probably, auction will be held on 12th January at Chennai or on 20th January at Kolkata.
The decision to either include or exclude Pakistani players from the 2013 edition of Indian Premier League will be taken by the governing council at its next meeting before the player auction.
Update: The auction for the sixth edition of IPL will be held on February 3 in Chennai according to Sunder Raman, CEO of Indian Premier League. Raman on his official twitter account tweeted, “Pepsi IPL auction will be held on 3rd Feb in Chennai starting 11am IST.”
The long association of DLF with IPL ended as Soft drinks giant Pepsi bagged the title sponsorship for IPL for a whopping 396.8 crore rupees. Earlier DLF had paid 200 crores for five years (2008-2012).
Airtel was the other company which applied for the title sponsorship but Pepsi’s bid was more than that of Airtel and thus they were awarded the title sponsorship for five years (2013-2017)
“So far our records of selling various properties of IPL has been very good. We have doubled, tripled or quadrupled the amount while selling some of the properties,” Shukla told reporters after the meeting of the IPL Governing Council.
Deepika Warrier, Executive Director Marketing of Pepsico Beverages said “We have been associated with cricket for the last 20 years. The IPL is a tremendous product. It is a brand which rivals any other sporting brand across the world.”

PepsiCo will now be the official sponsor of IPL Season 6 after DLF did not renew their contract at the end of initial 5 years contract. PepsiCo has earned the sponsorship rights at a whopping Rs 396.8 crore for five years.

Chennai Super Kings who won the toss and elected to bat first posted a good total of 190 thanks to superb batting by their batsmen specially Suresh Raina. Kolkata Knight Riders who got the first jolt when the team score was just 3 in the very first over, came back strongly thanks to M Bisla’s innings of 89 off 48 balls. J Kallis also supported him superbly and finally it was Manoj Tiwary which ended the match with two fours.
