Former cricketer-turned- politician Navjot Singh Sidhu believes Kolkata’s and Chennai IPL teams are the most balanced and strong teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Shah Rukh’s and the Chennai team is the strongest if we compare the players on the paper. But I will put my money on the Mohali team to hold the championship trophy as I am a Punjabi,” Sidhu told reporters in the Capital on Monday.

Asked about the future of Indian Cricket League after the launch of IPL, he said, “ICL ka to band baj gaya (ICL has been ruined completely.)” But he cautioned that Twenty20 might lose viewer’s interest after some time with the launch of similar tournaments in future.

In the 6 match of DLF – IPL, Rajasthan Royals defeated Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets. The most valuable contribution came from Shane Watson who made 76 runs in just 49 balls which included 5 six and 5 fours. Chasing the target of 167, Rajasthan Royals lost Kaif when the team score was 6. After that Yousaf Khan and Kamran Akmal also were out cheaply and the score was 48/3 in 4.5 overs. The match witnessed some hot exchanges between Akmal and S Sreesanth. But Shane Watson holded on one end and played some marvelous shots. The 6th match of DLF – IPL was between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab and was played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to bat first. The start was good and the first wicket partnership was of 34 runs off just 4.5 overs. Karan Goel was the first to go and then the next to go was Kumara Sangakkara. Mahela Jayawardene was out for just 2 runs and now the entire responsibility was on the shoulders of Yuvraj Singh. He got a life when he was dropped by Lehman and then there was no looking back. He played a captains knock and scored 57 runs of 34 balls which included 3 sixes and 6 fours. Hopes, Sohal, Lee and Pathan was out for cheap but still the Kings XI managed to score 166 runs in their alloted overs.

The crowd was enjoying each moment and the atmosphere at the ground was electrifying with cheerleaders dancing on the tunes. Apart from them some celebrities were also present.So now Rajasthan Royals have to get 167 runs in 20 overs to register their first win in the League.
