Man of the match – Ajinkya Rahane
Today in the 23 match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first. Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane gave them the perfect start as the duo added 62 runs in 7.2 overs before Watson got out. But this did not deter Ajinkya Rahane who continued to play his shots. He and Dishant Yagnik then took the score past 100 and laid a solid platform for a huge total. Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten on 68 off 54 balls which included 8 fours and 1 six. A cameo of 27 in 15 balls by Brad Hodge helped them post a total of 179/3 in 20 overs.
Chasing 180 to win, Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting once again failed to give Mumbai a good start and both of them were out when the team score was 10. With 10/2 in 2.5 overs, Mumbai needed Rohit Sharma to once again shoulder the responsibility but he too failed. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Dinesh Karthik was the top scorer with 30 runs off 32 balls and got no support from other end. With half team back in pavilion for just 61, Mumbai had a real tough task in hand. But the lower middle order failed miserably and all the team was bowled out for just 92.
