Today in the 43rd match of Season 6, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. Dwayne Smith and Sachin Tendulkar added 32 runs for the first wicket stand. In the same over, Dinesh Karthik got out leaving Mumbai Indians struggling at 32/2 in 4.5 overs. Dwayne Smith and Rohit Sharma then steadied the innings but the duo failed to accelerate the rate of scoring thanks to some excellent bowling by Sunrisers. Even Kieron Pollard failed to score runs with ease but Ambati’s 27 ball 34 finally helped Mumbai post a total of 129/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 130 to win, Akshath Reddy and Shikar Dhawan opened the innings for Sunrisers. Akshath Reddy got out when the team score was just 16 but Shikar Dhawan and Kumara Sangakkara then steadied the innings. S Dhawan looked in good touch as he stood firm on one end. After Sangakkara’s wicket, Hanuma Vihari and S Dhawan took the team inches close to victory before Hanuma got out. But Shikhar Dhawan’s 55 ball 73 helped Sunrisers thrash Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets.
