Today in the 62nd match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan added 38 in 3.5 overs before Patel got out. Shikhar Dhawan and Hanuma Vihari then had a splendid 73 run partnership. Shikhar Dhawan continued his good form and scored 59 off 46 balls which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Hanuma Vihari also chipped in with useful 41 and laid a perfect platform for Cameron White’s bashing. Captain White scored 43 off 23 balls to give his bowlers a good target of 178/3 to defend.
Chasing 179 to win, Mumbai opened with Dwayne Smith and Sachin Tendulkar and the duo added 26 before Smith got out. Dinesh Karthik and Sachin Tendulkar then played superbly and took the score to 94 before Sachin got retired hurt after hurting his palm. This gave the opportunity to Sunrisers to bounce back and they striked twice in the span of 8 balls to reduce Mumbai to 99/3 in 13.2 overs. Dinesh Karthik got out after scoring 30 off 23 balls where as Rayudu got out after scoring just 2. The onus was once again on Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard and the duo played steadily till the 16th over before launching an all over attack. Needing 62 to win from last 4 overs, Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard smashed Perera to all over the ground. 29 runs came of the 17th over and it changed the equation of the match. Needing 33 to win from last 3, Pollard continued his hard hitting and completed his 50 in just 20 balls. At one stage, Sunrisers looked in total control but the cameo of Pollard changed the match by 180 degrees and finally Mumbai reached the winning total comfortably with 7 wickets in hand, thanks to the superb knock of 66 in 27 balls by Pollard which included 8 sixes and 2 fours.
