In the first semi final of DLF Indian Premier League 2010, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. All hopes were on Sachin Tendulkar and fans wished to see the blaster again in full flow, but this time millions of hopes were dashed as the master blaster could not give Mumbai a good start and was out for just 9. The other opener, Shikhar Dhawan also got out for just 12 and Mumbai were 29/2 in 3.4 overs. Nayar and Rayadu then got into a 39 run partnership and took the score to 68. Mumbai then lost Nayar (22 runs) and JP Duminy (3 runs) in space of 7 balls and it looked Royal Challenger Bangalore are in control of the game. But then Saurabh Tiwary and A Rayudu played well and took the score close to 150. A Rayudu (40 runs) was the next to get out but his wicket proved to be a blessing in disguise for Mumbai as it brought Pollard (33 runs) and Saurabh Tiwary (52 runs) in the center. They both then fired all cylinders and when it looked Mumbai could post 160 or so, they both scored 34 runs in last 2 overs to post a decent total of 184/5 in 20 overs.

Royal Challengers started with R Dravid and J Kallis. Kallis, the man in form for RCB got out for just 11 and RCB were 24/1 in 2.4 overs. Kevin Pietersen and R Dravid then tried to bring RCB back on track, Harbhajan Singh got the wicket of Kevin Pietersen (19 runs) and thus reduced Royal Challengers to 47/2 in 6.2 overs. Rahul Dravid and Robin Uthapa were at the center and they both scored runs at good run rate and took the score to 81/2 in 9 overs. The 10th over changed the game as Royal Challengers lost 2 wickets in this over and were reduced to 81/4. Dravid and Uthapa both were back in pavilion and Mumbai Indians were back in the game. K Pollard was the star for Mumbai Indians, earlier in batting he played a cameo of 33 runs off just 13 balls and then while bowling he took 3 crucial wickets to knock Royal Challengers Bangalore out of DLF IPL – 3. RCB were 109/6 in 14 overs and needed another 76 runs from 36 balls. Mumbai bowlers then kept RCB batsmen in total control and were finally able to win today’s 1st semi final with a convincing margin of 35 runs.

Bangalore will play the losing team of the second semi final match between Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers. Mumbai Indians will play the winner of that match in the grand finale of IPL 2010.
